”Moguls are my favourite warm up for slalom” - I love how the focus has been on building a great allround skier rather than just doing gates. I am a late middle aged man, used to do gates and moguls in my youth and was a decent mogul racer back in the 80’s. Now I am doing gates as moguls are too physical and a totally different sport from what it was back in my days.

Really great video but more importantly the message. It brought back lots of memories of my own kid's progression from first year j6 through FIS and gap years. Our coaches had them free skiing all over the mountain on GS skis. Corbets to Meet Your Maker to Broadway was a favorite. Your message is so true. You want them to have fun and as a Dad, give them the lifetime gift of a good technical ski foundation. They traveled all over NZ, Europe etc responsible for their equipment, studies, time management etc. all the while working hard on and off the hill. I miss it but your video brought back the good times. They went on to success in College. My daughter graduated in three years with honors from DU. And my son from Bates in Maine and on to grad school. Ski racing and all they learned attendant to it gave them the tools to succeed.

I have previously commented on a video that Wilson is an extremely talented skier. What I liked about this video is it shows that Wilson did not get that way because he was a prodigy, he became an expert through countless hours and training. Most skiers cannot make this sort of physical, time and financial commitment and what makes Wilson a special Athelete is that he has all of these traits. He also is competitive by humble. I am happy you showcased him because this is what skiing is all about.

Driving the inside ski taught me something! I’m a fan of Wilson’s and of course big fan of yours. I learned to ski on the Hood at 13 with my mother. My first run was Puchi and 47 years later I was at the Hood a few weeks ago, took the cat up to the top of Palmer and skied it for the first time. Seeing Wilson skiing the hood was really exciting. I wish him all the best! Keep up the wonderful inspiring teaching. If only I could be 13 and ski with you! 💕

Impactful video; I'll watch it repeatedly to remind myself of the work needed and progress made over time! I'm in my mid-50s, and despite my husband being an expert skier, I haven't progressed beyond intermediate until lately. A zoom lesson and private lesson taught me what I was doing wrong and what I needed to do next to progress. I now hit the slopes with intention and do drills, but I also have that same intention with my dryland workouts and exercises specific to the sport, thanks to you and your videos. Wilson's progress gives me that nugget of emotional connection to keep working when it gets hard and uncomfortable. Smiling with snow-packed between Wison's goggles and helmet is priceless!

Love and appreciate your words on the importance of free skiing and for parents to show patience. Stop pressuring the kids, Shiffrin, Vonn, Ligety, Cochran-Siegel are WORLD class skiers, the overwhelming majority of us are not going to be anywhere close to them. Love your videos and watching the maturation of Wilson!

Wilson's awesome. My skiing actually markedly improved this season by watching Wilson! I found I felt the driving of the inside leg like I'd never done before. Both your and his explanations of why this and why that are so clear and helpful. I feel so lucky to be watching his growth and successes and look forward to seeing all his skiing story!

Deb! You have done an incredible job with Wilson. Let me qualify myself very quickly I worked for years as a technician and coach with world-class athletes on the pro tour in the early 90s and ended up as the head coach at Beaver Creek and Director of racing. With that said I would love to be back in the game working with the kids they’re like little sponges and all they do is absorb great coaching. Most of my athletes that I managed were of drinking age and opinionated and stuck in their ways. I have to give Big shout out to Franz Weber who listened to me in his adult years as a masters racer and a celebrity. Please keep up the good work I am going to follow Wilson to the World Cup he’s going to make it. But watch out for those 13 through 15 year old pitfalls they can’t kill the greatest athletes. Thomyt

and now, dear Wilson, one other lesson... the story of your skiing will also be the story of how to live life well. Learning to build relationships with others, learning your occupation, learning to deal with the inevitable setbacks that reality throws at us (seemingly all too often)... you are secretly learning how to cope with all of these things through skiing. Go fast, have fun, and live well young man.. Maybe one day you'll be on the other side of the camera.

This support is what I would’ve needed when i went into ski racing at 10 y/o. Still breaks my heart that I quit when I was 14 because the coaches kept telling me that I started too late. Great job Wilson!

We’re coming late to the game after moving from a warm continent, however we had our 1st “race” training in the hall and my 12 year old son loved it despite the obvious need to work on his technique. (Which as a 50yr old x racer I can say is always going to be focus No. 1) The best thing was Bruce, our coach encouraging my son and focusing on the positives. We love your Vids Deb. Also super positive!

This is absolutely a must watch video for anyone interested in understanding what goes into the development of a ski racer. Wilson is very articulate when he describes the technical skills that you have helped him develop. I wish him success in his racing career. More importantly your coaching has helped him develop as a person. 👍🙏🙏🙏

Hey you are a great teacher AND an Olympic Gold medalist . Looked you up on Wikipedia. I'm planning to enrol in a ski race club (plastic slope) with my daughter (aged 4 now) once she has learnt to ski at the local indoor snowdome at Tamworth 🇬🇧. Not many mountains near us. Hoping to take her to Feldberg in Black Forest next February.
