Hello there. The more I watch your videos, the more I have the impression that you two and the wood worker team are re-inventing the wheel. May I suggest you visit a few boat shows? You will see many solutions to your ideas and problems, as most of what you are reinventing has been done already by many boatbuilding companies, in part decades ago and still in use today. This might help you expedite your project and find practical solutions for your boat. Good luck!

Great suggestion! We would absolutely love to have the opportunity to visit more boat shows. There are some things to note about our project - we are building in Brazil, so there are restriction on our project that are limited to this country. Some technologies simply do not exist here or are too expensive to import. Also the overall costs is important to consider when you are talking about building an entire boat and not just doing a focused refit on a particular part or area. We are trying to use the materials we have access to and our own DIY approach. Sometimes the easiest way, buying something off the shelf, is not the funnest way to come to a solution. We like to focus on design and creativity. That being said, we are super open to suggestions, especially things that we have not experienced in other countries. At this point we don’t have the funds to travel around the world going to shows, but hopefully we will some day and we’d love to incorporate that into the channel! Cheers! That table is so awesome! You should patent it or even sell plans:-) Couple of questions if you have some time. Are you concerned over the wood sliding against wood? Love the idea, my past experience with such slides in our house's basement growing up would swell a bit and then not want to slide (during higher moisture times). Also, just in case the linear actuator were to go out while in the middle of a sail, you may want to have a method to positively lock in the table position (for example if the motor shorted out while in the bed position). Just till you can comfortably complete your sail and look for another replacement. Just a though. Again, loving the solutions you are all coming up with!!!

Thanks so much!! Because of the special glue, marine grade plywood is less likely to swell. But we will be putting some padding in places where there might be rubbing. You are right to be concerned about the actuator. Even though it’s waterproof and has a guarantee for 5 years, we still made the leg usable manually if we need to remove the actuator all together for repair. Great questions! Cheers! ⛵️🙏🙌

Well done the idea of the table/ bed is absolutely fantastic it gets my vote the sound was a bit down but I turned mine up it was okay keep it up love the ingenious ideas on the boat!!!😊😊😊😊

One question but you have probably think about this point: what about the weight of all the modifications and the new interior… do you think it’s similar to the old spec ? Good luck for the end of the built , progresses are awesome !

Thanks so much!! We are keeping an eye on the weight distribution so that it remains relatively the same as the original. Keep in mind the original boat had a sizable diesel motor that we will replace with an electric that is a fraction of the weight. Cheers!

You need to look now RV's install extra beds yours is far far to complicated the activator is slow and they are not reliable when used in salt air conditions like the insides of boats. Then when it sticks your in big bi Your just making hard work for your selves all the time Best of luck 😊

RVs do have amazing solutions! The great thing about this particular actuator is it’s completely sealed and waterproof IP67, guaranteed to 1 meter in depth. And takes 20 seconds to lower it. You are right about maintenance. So we designed it so we can easily remove the actuator for repairs or remove it all together and the table still works manually. Cheers!

I love the clever way you’re designing your boat, using each piece of furniture and space to be useful on manny ways, and this is posible thanks to this amazing workshop team that materializes all your ideas. Maybe you can use the table on low position as a rail (and another on the button side of the galley) to take out and maintain the sliding section of the small bed . Or the simplest solution would be having a leg that folds 90 degrees just like the folding section of the table ( but folded on the other side)

If you look at all of you sitting around the table the extension leaf is saging down as the support does not come out far enough under the table You always need the support to come out a min of half the width of the table yours only comes out max a third. You can buy shelf pull out rails in 3 sections to allow the support of come out to a min of half way, in time yours will fail for sure some one standing up but there hand on the table to help get up it will break for sure I know from past experance the extension needs to be able to take the weight of a person Im very surprised that your carpenters did not see this

​@lahakai I am concerned about the thickness of the wood when the bed pieces are extended out fully. Maybe it's sturdy enough to lay flat on, but it doesn't look like it could support much weight. I can picture an instance where you have everything layed out in the big bed configuration and someone wants to go to the bathroom or v birth - instead of moving everything they just walk over the bed and potentially break your set up. Thoughts?

Good question! We are testing this still to see if we want something more sturdy and there’s a couple options to make it really firm that we are working on. They also need a lock to keep them in place so they stay secure. We’ll make updates on this soon! Cheers!

Ha sido un gran trabajo, lo disfrutaran un tiempo y terminaran haciendo lo que los chicos brasileños del velero naranja. Lo venden despues de dos años y ya nos anuncian su nuevo proyecto, supo emos que un catamaran. Mas espacio y estabilidad. Uno de los problemas de ustedes es el espacio y un catamaran tarde o temprano les hirá mejor. Aunque espero ver como disfutan y aprovechan esa gran obra.

Los catamaranes son perfectos para el mediterráneo o el caribe , pero son demasiado comprometidos para viajes oceánicos . Coincido en que lo habitual de estos proyectos es usarlos un periodo de tiempo y luego vender el barco para un barco con mas eslora , mas espacio y mejores prestaciones . El Lahakai está bien para empezar , pero yo creo que la eslora mínima son 50 ' , sobre todo en un barco de acero .

It's far too complicated. It will be troublesome to say the least. You don't need to reinvent the wheel. It's all been done properly before. Just do the research. It's all out there. Half as easy and half as heavy.
