That table came out sweet it really did if you ever build another one what you can do is one get an 8 foot level you know what nice aluminum level and when it’s sitting on the sawhorses, just take a bottle jack put it on a bunch of cribbing and build it up someand use a level to check for flatness in the center on both sides and then weld everything up now you’re solid

You are the "weld whisperer"!! Awesome job. Really enjoy when you guys do side project. Andy is very lucky to have you for a friend...well anyone would be. Only thing I would have added would be cross braces at the corner of the legs angles up toward the corners of the table to level the corners out and give stability to the the corners of the table top. Did I say corners enough in that sentence?...😂 Anyway, hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and you look super sharp with the full beard! Can't wait to see another video about your house and of course any other project! Have a good one.

That wood stove looks awesome. I had one made of 1/4 and 5/16 plate plus firebrick and cast iron doors I found it to be a great place to incinerate wood. A friend had one that was made out of a steel drum. It got so hot he sometimes had to crack open a window when he had a fire in it. I guess you don't always get what you pay for....

Ilove the work I made something similar a few years back... to help get that bow out I welded a few nuts onto the frame and then tighten a bolt into them to push against the top...
@Wolfpupfab2 ай бұрын
Nice, thanks for the tip 👍
@thomasbonse2 ай бұрын
I would've suggested welding a nut to the top of the round feet plates. Then welding the nuts to the threaded rod going into the legs. This would make leveling the table easier, as you'd only need a wrench at the foot. I'd also have a second nut that's used as a jam nut to lock the feet in place.
@Wolfpupfab2 ай бұрын
Good idea. We do have jam nuts on them

Nice build on the table. I would offer some tips on construction. Ive built a few 5x10 and 4x8 fab tables in my 30yrs of experience. Ive found it best to build the legs and frame as an assembly then drill and tap the plate and bolt from the bottom. Or stitch the top down with just a few welds to hold the top on. this reduces any pulling of the over hanging top from all the welding. Its all down pressure so the top isnt going anywhere. I was sure you were going to pull the edges from all the sticthing you did and his level showed that. It can be flattened back with torch work but if it can be prevented thats even better. Or kept to a minimum. Either way it looks nice and he will benefit from its use for sure.

As I am not a welder, is having that big plate directly on the floor a big no no? Assuming the floor is flat, that would solve the issue with bendy plate?
@Wolfpupfab2 ай бұрын
We could have done that but concrete floors are not always as flat as they look. Also he had much of his floor sloped to floor drains. It is also easier to work up off the ground if you can

I always go to US Welders (I believe that is the one, great service and price) and get longer Mig gun leads. I also get the flex head gun which isn't strictly necessary but makes getting in the nooks and crannies more comfortable. Sometimes I get my consumables there as well. Their guns are compatible with the big names as well. Just tell them which you want. Fighting a short lead is a pain. I get some bulk welding wire and extend the grounds out as well. Also a good time to upgrade the clamps. Great project. Still haven't figured out who belongs to the Yellow Lab??? Reminds me of my Mr. Duke who has gone on.

I made one awhile back, I used my mag drill and drilled 100s of 1/2 or 5/8 holes (cant remember) and bought a lot of harbor freight clamps and welded on 1/2 cylinders. You can insert the clamp cylinder side into the hole and clamps stuff down anywhere on the table and it holds incredibly well. Probably the worst explanation.... look up Armstrong welding table and clamps as I copied that.

I've been watching your videos since the start of your project but every time you put out a new one and KZbin pushes it to me, I always forget who you are. Sometimes I miss your videos because the name wolf pup fab is 3 words but also it seems like a weird jumble and doesn't stand out at all. If you want to make your name memorable, most channels just have 1 or 2 words and they are generally names, it makes your channel name easier to remember and then I know who you are when I get your videos pushed to my feed. Up to you, just my suggestion to grow your channel. Good content as always
