Learned to weld at a Vo- tech school back in 1983. We used to build house wood burning stoves and sell to the public to help pay for field trips. Used to braze the edges to make them look fancy. Good times.

Pallets are free and burn well. Use the slats for kindling, burn the 2x4 rails. Stacks easily also. Next, add a 1/4" drip line through the side, near the top, that you can have used oil to drip on the burning wood from a small 1 gal. resivior you can locate a fee feet from the stove, even through the wall hanging outside. Also line the bottom with regular red bricks,they retain tons of heat looooong after the fire is out. This will essentially make your wood consumption stop and use the embers as a wick. I heat a 30x30x16' shop using an armload of wood and about 1-1/2 gal of oil for over 12 hours. Packing 2 gal of used oil and 15 pieces of cut pallet rail would guarantee heat regardless of available campsite wood. Reply for more info. Has worked for me for decades.

I have an Espar diesel heater in my Semi and I wouldn't want to live without it! "Bunk heater" in the trucker world. My sleeper and cab area is approximately half the size of your off road camper and the Espar will absolutely keep up with double the size of what I have. I've used the China knock off's in the past. IMO the Espar is the hands down best of the best. I use it every night as needed in the north central USA where I run and I wouldn't ever want to be without it. They are expensive compared to the China crap... but I service my Espar twice a year with Amazon repair kits that cost about 30 bucks. I've saved thousands of dollars in maintenance and diesel every year with my Espar! Absolute best diesel heater on the market 😎

If you want to add glass to your wood stove door, you can use a Pyrex pie plate. Cheap and durable.

Now THAT is a cool as frick idea!! I might try that on the waste oil heater I'm building to use in my garage!!
@Fix_It_Again_Tony
@Fix_It_Again_Tony 4 ай бұрын
That'll probably work if you can find the real deal borosilicate stuff. That's the original Pyrex. The stuff they have made since the 80's is tempered soda lime glass, so normal glass which has been put through a tempering process. Tempered glass is like the glass in car door windows that breaks into small pieces instead of death shards.

For the rattley panels, you can also use the foam tape in an "X" across the inside of the panels, to dampen the acoustic vibrations off the larger panel bits

You guys are probably saving people's lives with the commentary. You share real genuine wisdom and I appreciate that tremendously. Those Canyonlands will kill you if you don't respect it. I had several 5 gallon water jerries freeze solid on me one night (early spring) in the San Rafael swell. New moon, crystal clear skies, and you could swim in the stars. Fire is survival at times. Brutal yet incredibly beautiful. Stay warm.
