I used to hunt when I was younger but at 64 and all I used was a climbing stand that I built! I’m too old to be climbing a tree anymore! But it’s still exciting to see others get to hunt! I’ve never been lucky or had time to build the perfect house blind even though I had gathered the material! Just between working and working for my friend the property owner, we spent more time repairing his different projects on his 500 acre farm! He was running around 200 head of cattle and I would always help working his cows a couple times per year! And we spent a lot of time riding around his property about like y’all do there! Just enjoying the clean air and riding in the mud! lol 🤣😂🤣

Interesting stuff to fill holes with. we are cursed with lots of rock and rocky gravel that stuff would be screened for topsoil base

lol ya it’s not my first choice for a road 😂 that’s basically what we have around here and what I had on the farm for free lol but that’s what the first road was build out of about 10 years ago and this is my first time repairing it so it will be fine for the ATV’s and tractors to get across 😊

Great video enjoyed watching. I'm looking forward to watching the rest interested in the hay... I built a short cordory road thru a wet spot to my new log cabin site a few years ago, which turned out awesome. Also, I got my OC4 Oliver Crawler back running finally... post a video, check it out. Thanks for sharing there eh!

You should take all the mud out then put good stuff in preferably hard clay.
@pheloniousmunk
@pheloniousmunk 2 ай бұрын
I'm wondering why you would use what appears to be topsoil to fill in a swampy area? That's not going to hold up, especially in the swampy area. You need something that binds and doesn't become absorbed into the underlying clay in that wet area or you're just compounding your problem.
@4Dan21
@4Dan21 2 ай бұрын
@@pheloniousmunk good question! And you’re not wrong! But simple answer is because that’s what I had for free on the property lol and as it’s just meant to be a atv/tractor trail this will be fine :) and once the wholes come back I’ll have some fun in them and fill it back in next year 😊

@@4Dan21 You have, or have access to a small dump truck, maybe a trade with someone, topsoil for gravel, would be better for you?
@4Dan21
@4Dan21 2 ай бұрын
@@pheloniousmunkalso a good idea, but in this area that’s what everyone has lol so unless it’s screened then it’s not worth trading for cuz it would still need to be topped with screen soil. But that’s what we built the road out of originally across there roughly 10 years ago and this is my first time having to fix it so it works fine for all we do with it 😊

The track is still loose at the end of the video. Another tube of grease. From Texas, we use rip rap in mud.
@4Dan21
@4Dan21 2 ай бұрын
Ya it is still loose but the tensioner is maxed out so I’m going to need the torches and a big hammer to knock a link out of it lol. And yes, I would use a 6 inch breaker run as base if this was a job for a paying customer that was actually going to be driving vehicles back-and-forth on it all the time but as it’s for us to drive across every now and then with the ATVs getting wood and hunting, it’s not worth the thousands of dollars in material :p

@4Dan21
@4Dan21 2 ай бұрын
@@TheArgoguy hey :), well the idea is kinda how fibbers in concrete help hold it together. Instead of just mud if you have hay layered in and the mud dries out then it helps hold everything tighter when you’re going across :). It’s not going to turn it into a highway or anything lol but it helps :p. some sheep farmers will use sheep’s wool and throw that in mud holes instead lol

why don't they put a hydraulic cylinder instead of a gunk gun cylinder for the track slack?
@W8iHav2P
@W8iHav2P 2 ай бұрын
How would you pressurize it? Especially in the field if you need to tighten the tracks?
@pheloniousmunk
@pheloniousmunk 2 ай бұрын
Because you would either need a separate hydraulic system, adding cost, and complexity, or risk hose snags or allowing dirt into the primary hydraulic system during the inevitable tensioner seal failure. Grease filled tensioners have proven to be reliable and easy to maintain and frankly, a decent grease gun can deliver up to 10,000 psi to apply to the tensioner, try that with a hydraulic system that doesn't cost a fortune.

You need to put some stone down first and then some road base on top, because that water will just work its way up to the top and you will have a bog again. I live in Ireland and i am a earth mover.
