Hello everyone. We are back from the hard trip we had to take to Las Vegas and Utah. We are trying to stay positive and motivated. We wanted to get right back to work on the supply room / tiny (food house ). We made some major progress today even though it was raining a little bit. This Storage room is going to be HUGE! Thank you all for being here, we appreciate you all! Enjoy!

I would make a landing for the top step and have the door opening out. More room on the wall. Thinking about you carrying things out to the storage room, you may need that landing to set things down. Just a suggestion.

If you are taking suggestion. Have you thought about putting a 2x3 window at the other end of the same wall. The door could have a window in it, giving you light at both ends. Huge love ❤ from Canada.

Hi Rox and ant. Good to see you back ❤️ I would place the door a little more away from corner, so Rox can have shelves on the wall towards the house. I’m just thinking about maximising the space on the walls 😉 furthermore I would place the window as far away from the door “as possible”, so you can create some airflow in the space in the summertime. Good work you guys. Hugs from Denmark 🥰❤️

Take in to account with the door if you are going to put a shelf on the front wall the width of the shelf so the door can open and isn't in the way of the shelves.

You could reuse that roof over the dog’s pen. You’d probably be able to use a lot of the same holes. Either way, it’ll make great animal structure.

If you want shelving along the end wall maybe put the door 2 to 3 feet from the end so you have a full wall of shelving on the end wall and don’t walk in and have to zig around the shelf that is right there blocking part of the door opening and since you said you wanted the window for in case something happened then maybe have it at the other end so you have both ends to get out. Put the window the same from that end that you put the door from the other end. Just a thought! Everything you guys are doing always looks wonderful anyway you decide!

You’ll definitely want a window like you said for a second egress in case of emergency, but also to air it out. Are you planning on actually canning in there? I’ve been canning 30 yrs, learned some things. Sealed jars can unseal if they’re stored where temps change, esp if you’re producing all that steam near them. It’s happened to me. Can’t remember if you do this or not, but always remove the bands then clean the jar off. Another lesson I learned the hard way. They’ll rust on & you won’t know they’ve gone bad.

It does seem big but it will feel full when you build the storage spaces and put all of your things that you will need to do canning in that area like a stove or something that will heat the pressure cooker. A table to chop on. Appliances to prepare the foods and a sink with water. It will get smaller in a hurry.

Just something to think about guys. Considering how much weight the roof will have and how much it will possibly be pushing out your walls are you going to install any ""cross beams"" to avoid the bowing out of the walls? Or it this a mute point? Other than that I think that will be a perfect storage unit. Your cyber friend, Me southern AZ.

If you take in account your door close to the wall you will be loosing the space behind the door. To where you couldn’t put anything in the space for the full swing of the door. If you move it away from the wall the width of the door you can put stuff behind the door.

Canning & you see people putting there pantry in the basement because it is dark it may have a small one by one window or a 2 x 2 window but that’s too big for the space your building I think a 1 x 1 is big enough. I think you should put your door on the inside so will open outward in too the freezer Room it will give you more shel space
@ItsyBitsyDreamstead
@ItsyBitsyDreamstead 15 сағат бұрын
You might want to leave enough room between the wall and the door so that you can put in a set of shelves. Otherwise it's just wasted wall space.

If you are putting in a window as an extra way to get out of the building in case of emergency it doesnt make any sense to put it right next to the door. In fact it would serve that purpose better to put it on the opposite wall. Just my opinion. ❤

I would do the window next to the door & high enough to put the chest freezer under it. That way, the top of the freezer is a space to put items to take into the house or to dump grocery bags to sort & put away. Behind the door for hooks to hang things. If you put the window in the middle, you will loose running wall shelves. On the end towards the rabbits, are you going to put shallower 18" shelves for appliances, so they all are in one space? I can't wait to see how you do the shelving. I'm sure you both have researched it to death to make sure to get the most bang for the buck.❤🛒🧺

If was me I would just add on to pole barn and build new building attached to pole barn and turn the pole barn in a animal barn for future animals like goats and pigs if decided to have larger animal farm that pole barn would do good job it’s open had air go through and shelter from rail place you store hay animal food for goats and pigs in future just build addition building onto pole barn same size and that your building right now big supply room and place for ant. Tools also that’s what I will do I never tear down my own work
