There are whispers on highway 9. Hushed words about the ghost of la honda. Everyone on this side of LA knows the legends but decides not to speak openly out of fear. In 2024 the ghost appeared on the local scene. His chariot, a certified preowned brz with $19,000 still left on the loan, he had over $3000 invested into mods from carID. He would pull up to the meet and ramble about slip angle without really knowing what it means. Anyone who offered to drive with him was met with a triumphant "its touge time". The ghost got his name for his ability to disappear behind any car he drove against, and not reappear for another 7 minutes after his foe completed the run. From rx7 to f350 crew cab, his disappearing line technique made him the ghost across all roads in southern califonria. A feared name to mutter, it brings back reccolections of being stuck behind a brz going 5 under on a road with nowhere to pass. He never made friends or enemies on the mountain roads. The only traces of his crusade were voice mails and text's sent to bosses all over los angeles, informing the recipient that they would be late due to being stuck behind a subaru for 20 minutes. Nobody knows what happened to the ghost of la honda. Some say he got understeer once and gave it all up. Others say his grandpa got mad at him one too many times and took away the car keys to his impreza coupe. All we can say is that across every road with a curve on the west coast of the united states, his name proves unbridled laughter with its mere utterance.

I got stuck behind one driving an f650 the other day. I thought he was parked in the road at first so I parked, got out and told him to move, but when I started walking up to the car he was moving slightly faster away from me. By the looks of it driving as fast as he could, hope he made it safe. I had to stop and get some sleep before driving the rest of the way. I should have just passed ik but I’m not about to go over double yellows in a company vehicle for gods sake. So I just camped and had a nice time watching the stars on the side of the road and went to sleep. Hope he made it home safe but that’s the last time I take that route god forbid I ever get stuck behind that car again, turned a 2 hour delivery into an overnight trip.

you mentioned wanting to keep a mostly stock appearance, as well as the car feeling like it's generating aerodynamic under steer, so maybe excluding a wing, and sticking with just a splitter and ground effect under tray could be better suited to your needs.

@L86END nothing wrong with being nit picky! I'm not even sure what the proper term for it is, I just know it scares me lol, one second youre turning, the next you're drifting with no warning sign. @AKidOnARoof314 thanks! That's awesome! Do you like yours? I've asked others about their turbo setups and they always talk about turbo lag. The edelbrock blower just seems like a great pick.
@AKidOnARoof314Ай бұрын
@@bud_the_bandit yeah, I love my supercharger! It completely rids the car of its ‘slow’ stigma, creating an entirely different car feel with it. I am pushing 305 hp @ 10lbs of boost to ensure reliability. The three downsides I have run into so far is that the bypass valve breaks roughly every 40k miles which requires removing the entire supercharger to get to it. Additionally, the coolant reservoir that came with the kit started leaking everywhere on me after some time. I fixed this with a local tuner shop who just fabricated a coolant reservoir from metal to rid the issue permanently. Additionally, the water pump that came with the kit shit the bed on me too, I was told those are a really uncommon failure. Replaced it with a little electric water pump from a Tesla per my tuner’s recommendation & it’s been great. Fun as hell to drive
@AKidOnARoof314Ай бұрын
Just bear in mind that my car has 96,000 miles on it & these are the things I have had to fix involving my edelbrock e-force kit overtime. I am also running radium dual oil catch cans, a PLM unequal length catted header, a custom tune, and a Jackson racing oil cooler.
@bud_the_banditАй бұрын
@AKidOnARoof314 sounds like a sick little hot rod to me! That's awesome. I did do power to weight ratio numbers at some point and 300hp for the car puts it in mustang 5.0 territory. I appreciate the full list of feedback here, good to know what might happen. Plus if something happens always makes for conversation or a great story.

Great video man! Only thing id recommend is doing the suspension/handling mods before the supercharger. You may also want to invest in bigger and or stronger oem size brakes when you increase the power massively. Best of luck and i hope for the best!
@bud_the_banditАй бұрын
@HJarrod Hey, thanks! Definitely appreciate the feedback. The car has factory brembos so brake wise it's already set up. I know everyone has their preferences as to what they would do first. Personally I feel I would rather have more power first. I grew up around drag racing so mo powah makes me giggle like a school boy lol. Either way, thank you for watching
@viridian1320Ай бұрын
I will second the recommendation for suspension/chassis work before power! It's easier to grow into and for something like touge, maintaining cornering speed is everything. I've been beating other more powerful street cars in my handling-focused FK7 Civic at Streets of Willow. A good set of coil-overs, sway bars, and most of all tires will really wake up the car! But no matter what direction you go, I look forward to where you take the car next!
@bud_the_banditАй бұрын
@@viridian1320thank you, I really appreciate it. Honestly I'll take the advice from yall to heart and research some more to see what I'll do! Give em hell!
@ryanussher6455Ай бұрын
@@bud_the_bandit I'll third that recommendation! I had a 2014 86 (Australian spec), never tuned it or increased the power but put some wider Michelin pilot sport 4 tyres on which made a huge difference, handled like it was on rails. After that a sway bar to reduce the cars understeer will push your tyres efficiency up and increase corner speeds. At that point you can improve your times with driver skill until stiffer suspension and more power is needed. When you go for more power just remember the FA20 con rods are made of paper so a delicate tune or forged internals are required for longevity. Best of luck with the build and have fun!
