I have a facelift S3 saloon, stage 3 on Littco turbo. Destroyed the prop shaft on the first drive. I had the same problem with replacement/price, time, etc. I found a company called Propshaft Services near Heathrow, who rebuilt and upgraded mine in 24 hours. They cut and reweld new, thicker sleaves and weld in an aggressive coupling instead of the bearing. The same prop is being run on a 1000bhp RS3 drag car near them with no problem whatsoever. Highly recommend reaching out to them depending on how good your ebay upgraded one is. Apparently, they're Tiguan props with copper circlip that give up easy. Taking out incorrectly can destroy the bearing as well. There was a revision/recall (different letter on end of part number), but some later cars didn't get the revised prop.

Chris, the prop can be fixed, you have to open it up and refit the bearings. It´s not easy but it´s doable. I rebuilt a 2015 Passat 4 motion that had an accident and the prop was like yours. they go in on impact so that it isn´t ruined. You have to take off the rubber protector and carefully put it back together. Funny thing about mine, I had it all done and when moving it around it went back in again. There is a specific tool that holds one section to the other so that it doesn´t move back and forth to avoid it going in. live and learn 😄😄

I’ve had plenty of little hot hatches from GTI mk5. 07 S3 from a Clio sport 182. all the way up to an RS6 V10 I’m by far my favorite car of the all was the Audi RS3 2020 once you do a little bit of suspension work like make it stiffer. There is nothing catching you on a back road. and 180 mile an hour top end pretty fast.
@ash-d7o8 күн бұрын
I have a DAZA RS3 Saloon with suspension work and own 3 R53 supercharged minis, and I can assure you, the RS3 would be in a ditch trying to keep with the Mini on a back road! When a straight comes up however....

Copper slip in to alloy is a mistake and causes corrosion due to dissimilar metals and can cause galling. Copper slip should only be used on steel to steel parts like nuts, bolts and studs. Use a nickel or aluminium anti corrosion paste on wheel hubs, alloy threads and calliper pins.
@richardjanes29248 күн бұрын
Back in the day of Aston Martin DB4,5,6 etc. Aluminium body’s onto steel. They had to put a certain tape between the alloy and steel to stop them reacting & corroding. Copper and Aluminium are both non ferrous metals so how would they corrode. Please explain.
@jo-ov9vc3 күн бұрын
They can corrode ... oxidisation. Same with old land rover Aluminium body on steel chassis
