Just watched this entire series. Im gearing up for my first acoustic build. I’ve been scratch building electrics for four years and feel like it’s time to go for it. Thanks for this, it has helped me sort out some ideas and understand the steps more. That’s a beautiful sounding and looking instrument. Thanks for sharing The Truth!

The Truth will out! You have built a beautiful instrument. Full-throated, clear, a sustain monster. I think the Phosphor Bronze strings have a slight edge, for the high end, but, as always, it's a matter of taste. I don't imagine you'll hear from the person who told you it can't be done, now that you have done it. Brava! Gabriele.

You did an amazing job, very well executed , I learn something new every time I watch a video so thank you for all your hard work and effort to film these & edit them so good, I understand now exactly what you mean about certain things like the fret dressing/crowning n polishing if you not in the right head space leave it & come back to it, I'm in two minds about the brass pins now though, I understand they probably transfer sound very well in being dense but I think the extra weight might dampen the resonance & sustain, hold brass pins in one hand then your ebony bone or tusq pins in the other & Feel the extra weight difference in the brass in comparison, does the soundboard not have to work harder to move the extra mass causing the Guitar to lose out in various ways? Don't get me wrong I've used them myself but thinking about the M'O off how a Guitar works I believe it hinders certain parts of the sound & brightens others so after a few comparisons I like ebony pins better, what do you think 🤔 on this I'd love your thoughts on the this please 🙏 ☝️ ♥️ 🌍 🏴 🍀 🌈 🕊️ ♾️ 🙏 💪 🌞 😎
@GabiM3112 Жыл бұрын
Hi there, well, I know that there are people giving theory about bridge pins, their density and weight a lot of thought - particularly makers of very expensive custom made guitars that sell for 20,000 plus. I guess you can very well have that scientific approach, but then again I doubt if you really perceive some of the physical facts with your senses. My philosophy is the following: I put pins on, see or rather hear what they sound like with a particular guitar and the ones that sound good/the best to my ear go on the guitar. To my experience you can never go wrong with bone or wooden pins but sometimes a guitar has a nice sound with brass pins as well. I have different pins on my guitars. I find most sound best with wooden pins (rosewood or ebony, warmer woodier) and with bone (equally good but crisper and more defined), to some others, though, brass is an asset. But what sounds pleasant to my ear, others may not like. Neither of the three materials gives a bad sound, it just varies a teensy bit in either direction (brigther/woody/warmer/clearer/more defined) and the sound is very much determined by what guitar they go on and how that is built and from what materials. You can swap pins all the time and they are not a constructional part of a guitar that you couldn't change easily. So, I'd say, choose the ones that sound best to you and you're good to go. Cheers Gabi

Stunning instrument and a great video series - thank you for sharing the build. I notice that you installed what look like brass Bridge pins. Is this a preference of yours and do you find they make any difference to the guitar's tone?
@GabiM31123 жыл бұрын
To my ears bone and brass give a good tone and brass doesn't come from animals, so it's a bonus.

Thanks for your effort here Gabi. Your build seems to have taken about 60 hours or so spread over the 8 or 9 days. So I was wondering whether it might be fun to compare to building two identical guitars simultaneously. Would that take 120 hours or could some savings be made? And would those savings be meaningful?
@GabiM31123 жыл бұрын
Actually the full video footage was about 25 hours of working time. I always film the whole process and then pick parts from the individual video clips to make a video. Making two guitars at the same time (or more) even makes it quicker because in the time you are waiting for something to dry/cure, you can already work on the next step on the other guitar, so I say it would be faster than doing them one after another.
