@@BackyardScrapping so are you really "growing" silver? I thought this was the case but another person who does this stuff said you just get out what you put in, but In a more pure form. So you aren't really "growing" any EXTRA silver right? You just get OUT what you put IN but at in more pure state, eliminating out the impurities?
@BackyardScrapping Жыл бұрын
@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL Correct, you are just ending up with a cleaner product. If you do everything right when you are 1st refining, you should end up with at least three nines fine silver or better. But if you are unsure what your refine has yielded this is a way to be sure. Also if you want to use the silver for health applications, like making colloidal silver you need better then a .999 to end up with a good product. It just depends how pure you want your end product. The industry standard necessary to be considered pure is .999 any thing more depends on the application as I said above. The way I do my refining and clean up has been yielding me nearly four nines fine silver, which is good enough for me because for the most part buyers will pay you no extra money for the extra nines of fineness, but you have to be sure what the fineness is, especially if you are making bars or castings to sell. Miss marking you metals is not legal, and also will ruin you reputation! Now that I have access to an XRF tester and know for sure what the fineness is of my finished product is, I no longer need to use the silver cell to be sure that my sliver is what I say it is. Hope this better explains this process.

so where does the average person initially get all the 'junk silver' ? I initially thought this was a chemical process to actually make silver from something not silver
@BackyardScrapping2 жыл бұрын
This is just the process of purifying the silver, see the rest of my answer below, its a bit long, but I hope it will make things clearer. The junk silver can come from anywhere, yard sales, flee markets, thrift stores, junkyards, etc.. As far as creating silver from something else, I'm sure as with gold, it has been tried with no success. Silver as gold is a naturally occurring mineral mined from the earth. "Man" has often used the term that he created something, but if you think about it he has merely mixed things that already occur to make something else, IE., a mixture, not a creation. Simply put, what is a western omelet?? A western omelet is scrambled eggs, tomatoes, green peppers, and onions mixed together to make what we call "A Western Omelet", nothing was created here, things that already exist were just mixed together to make something new. I once heard a joke where a scientist was telling God that man now has the ability to create life and challenged him to a contest, so the scientist said being that you are God, you can go 1st. So God reached down and picked up a hand full of dirt, and breathed life into it, then he said to the scientist now its your turn. So the scientist scooped up some dirt and put it in a test tube, then God said "Wait Just A Second" you're going to use my dirt to create life?? Challenge me again when you have created your own dirt!! All things that are so called "Created" are just things that are already here, then combined to make something new. A painting is often called a creation, but all it is, is paint on a canvas, how it is arranged makes it a piece of art, but its still just a mixture of things that already exist.

Love this video! This is the third time I'm watching. I'm getting the stuff together for the cell. I think I want to use a combination of yours and Sreetips methods. I really like your method for sure! What I like about Sreetips, is using the stainless bowl. With his method though, a guy needs a truck load of silver. Which is not easy to get unless you don't care how much your paying for it. This will be my first time doing this and I only have so much silver. So I take it I can adjust my cell size to the amount of silver I have. Is that correct? Thank you for your time brother!
@BackyardScrapping2 жыл бұрын
Yep, just use a smaller bowl, everything else should be the same. even small cells will run a good amount of silver. Just keep the crystals pushed down so things don't short out. Also I would suggest on small cells not to run them un-attended (over night) some times there are growth spurts, & you end up with shorts!

While you could do this with a computer power supply, if you are going to put the time and effort and silver investment into this, I would highly recommend using a decent power supply that allows you to monitor and adjust the voltage and amperage. I built a very inexpensive cell but spent 50 bucks on the supply and Im glad I did, as I can now adjust things and find what settings give the best results. Just please if you do try this, do more research than just watching one video, and be safe and responsible with your actions. You watch Sreetips?? I watch him too, I started watching him about 2 weeks or so before I started watching you. In fact it was one of his old silver refining vids that lead me to you. Because you had a suggested video on his list. I actually dropped sreetips when I watched your first video because your personality was very likable!!! After I watched every single one of your vids I went back to watching his. He is very detailed in his explaining of how to do things, but (I think he knows that his personality is a little "different" than you or alot of people. I'm trying to say that nicely) he doesn't know how connect personally to the viewers!! He reminds me of a chemistry teacher, which can be good or bad. He's really great at answering questions and being professional. If he had your personality he'd have 200,000 subs right now! He can't do it differently because that's the way he was built. If he did do it differently, he'd be one of these jokers that have a full script for every vid and have to cut and edit alot so it'd be right and funny and FAKE!! I am a fan of his work, and his work is amazing! Alot can be learned by watching him. I'm really glad I found him, if not I never would've found your KZbin Channel !!!! I just had to say all this when you said that you watched sreetips. Now I'll start watching your video!
@BackyardScrapping5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Shane, and yes he is very good at the technical part of refining, and I have learned some important things watching his videos. His knowledge of refining techniques is above and beyond most that I have seen, and I give him 5 stars for that! I would only make one suggestion to him, and I really have no room to even do that, as I believe he has far more knowledge then I do on the technical aspects of refining then myself. But if he were to ask me, the one thing he could do, I would tell him to show more ways that the common backyard refiner could do things, IE ways to do things with out the expensive glass ware, equipment and expensive chemicals. Just one of his beakers probably cost more then all the glassware that I have, but that is not his fault, if I were blessed with the availability of funds to have such equipment, I would have and use it too. I just wish his videos would show that you don't need expensive equipment to get the job done, and some times a jar works as well as a $50 beaker. The right tools always make the job easier, but a $2 hammer in the end will still drive a nail, maybe not as good as a $25 hammer, but the nail will still get driven. Other then that as far as I'm concerned, his knowledge is unrivaled. Last but not least, he "is" the gruff chemistry teacher, but when you need an answer, the gruff chemistry teacher is usually the one with the right answer to give, and I still have to thank him and give him credit for that. :)
@shaneyork3005 жыл бұрын
@@BackyardScrapping I agree with everything you said, he is rather gruff, but smart, very smart! There are about 2 or 3 things he could change for me. One is when he does answer a question I AM VERY GRATEFUL, I know how busy he must be, but he never once has hit the like button! That takes less than a second. I hit the like button every time I'm reading a response from you or anyone else to show respect and appreciation. You hit it every time too! Doesn't that make a little deference with KZbin and the check they send him! The first KZbin I started to like and the only one that I watched every video so far (besides you) is E.Waste Ben! He's got a great delivery and it's natural, like you! I've suggested one thing to Sreetips recently and instead of saying no that probably wouldn't work for me or something nice, he said (I'm to busy to mess with that low value stuff). My suggestion was to do a refining of copper that he has cemented out with angle iron and refine to a copper bar! Everyone loves a copper bars!! I even said you'd probably loose money, but your fans would probably love it!! THANK YOU for this conversation and I'm really looking forward to PART 2 OF THE SILVER CELL!!!!
@BackyardScrapping5 жыл бұрын
I have to agree with you as well, I did watch one video that put me off a bit and it was where he said he just throws the copper away after it cements out of the solution. Personally I try not to throw anything that has value away, even if I'm not going to use it, I will try to pass it to someone that will. But some are more fortunate then others and they are not accustom to having to watch ever dime. I can say though, even if I had more then I do I don't know that I could just throw something away simply because I don't want to fool with it, I just despise waste of any kind.
