I have zero experience at welding, but every time I see welder helpers like in this video wearing no protection at all, just looking away with closed eyes... I find it quite a safety concern. Am I right?

@@Luigi_Vaz as long as they're looking away their EYES are fine, however the Arc Flash can give you a painful sunburn on unprotected skin...also if you see the Flash in your peripheral vision you can get Flash Burn from it, and it feels like someone poured Sand in your Eyes and can last for days depending on the severity...

That metal, when welded, releases toxic fumes that can be extremely unhealthful.
