Absolutely love what he's built here, it's perfect. The animals and gardens provide nearly all of our clean and healthy food. We never want to leave. We still socialize all we want, and maintain all the privacy as well. In the U.S., that is what keeps people trapped in the system and willing to risk their lives to keep their jobs when the mandates happened. Been saying for years that the more complex our society becomes with tech/politics/work, the more we will yearn for our roots to emerge. We’re made to struggle a bit, but by working the land and caring for our families-not by working for some company making someone else richer than we could ever dream. We need opportunities to breathe, to make connections, to build/create. We need to feel free again. Fear of the unknown is the greatest obstacle because they have us all brainwashed to think we can’t survive, let alone thrive without modern amenities. Time to escape the matrix.

We will be off grid for water and (hopefully really soon) will be off grid for electricity. Our ground is 7,5 hectares (Belgium) or 18,5329 acres. I want to live without TV (except for these kind of videos that I can watch on my phone, or the occasional movie night). But I can't force it on my wife. Were coming up on 4 years in, and feel we couldve been further along. We have spring water and wood heat, and a propane tank for cooking and hot water. Were taking the porck roof off in the next month, and starting to plan the solar. We are hoojed to the grid here, but we've had to rely on a gas generator several times this summer.

This man is so wise and I loved his telling of how you get more Pagan and start to get intuitions and inklings and see things you’ve never seen before when you live that close to nature. Also loved his comment about becoming part of the hill as you drink the natural water and veg your sustenance from the land. That’s why people were much more intelligent in the past.

I rarely leave comments but this video compelled me to say something. I had a beautiful house in the country (Snowdonia) with 15 acres of land. I also had a very stressy job which I hated but it paid well and so found myself on the hamster wheel. A few yrs ago my 'wife' decided we should separate (we have 3 kids), I fell to pieces to be honest (had 2 heart attacks too along the way) and it took me a good 3 or 4 yrs to get a grip. Now I live in my campervan and have never felt so free. Of course I sometimes miss the bells & whistles of consumerism but recognise for those little yearns there are a whole lot of negatives associated. I'm fortunate to not work now, I have enough money to keep me happy and like Paul said in the video my 'time is my currency'. This was a great video it really made me smile. Paul has an extremely healthy grasp on life. My only gripe about the video was the editing (sorry!!).. when you were interviewing Paul in the field, his son was creeping up to the left of the shot, you panned away to remove him, then you zoomed further into Paul; I would have thought it better to be inclusive of the little boy and involve him in the interview, just my tuppence worth. Great video and 1 more subscriber to your channel!

Honestly, it 's got to be said you're absolutely brilliant. Your life with your family, your surroundings and the freedom, what you've created together is a paradise. Fresh air, beautiful scenery, all the animals and then living hand in hand with Nature and all it has to offer plus giving your children the chance to experience first hand the changes the four seasons of the year present us. The brilliant colours of Autmn, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness or the full glory of hearing the skylarks and other indigenous birds and insects. No millionaire could be more content with all his material worldly possessions than this man with his family and the wonderful rural home he's built for them. Absolutely magnificent thanks very much for allowing us to share your story and experiences. Best wishes to you and your lovely family.

What an absolutely fantastic video. Me and my wife live with our two small children in cambridgeshire currently but our heart and soul is in Cornwall. Having both spent a lot of our time there, my wife in childhood, it's my dream that we move there in the next full years to live full time. It's just so hard to try and financially make it work. I'm 32 now with very minimal savings and we are stuck in a debt cycle just trying to break free, I want nothing more than to buy a piece of land and build our own off grid homestead, but I'm afraid of how to accomplish it without going mad trying to overwork my way out of our situation. We don't have any equity to fall back on or investment as things just didn't work out well for us in our early 20s, so playing catch up now. When I see videos like this it just inspires me to somehow make it work.

Oh. My. GOD! --- That is just about the most amazing, wonderful, incredible story I've ever heard. And again, he's absolutely correct in everything he says. The 'time' thing especially but the bullshit you get from the service providers and building a connection with the land. ------ Mind, BLOWN!

Respect to this man for being sensible and showing what it really means to „live“! He has a beautiful functional home, a breathtaking view and quality of life most people can only dream of. When he mentioned how these last few years have changed him by re-igniting his intuition due to his eating and drinking from the land, and the cycle of life connected to it, it confirmed my belief that in order to really thrive, reconnecting is the only way. Gaia has much to give, but we need to be open and not abuse her. This is such an inspiring video and will give many people food for thought regarding their life choices! ❤

Absolutely fabulous :) This sort of semi-autonomous living is something that more of us should embrace again. It's been a near life-long dream to have built up a village of our own, surrounded by friends with the skills we need to, as a community, handle most things. Sadly, I have reached old age without that ever flowering from more than a pipe dream and most of those I would have gathered around us have now passed on. But this fellows philosophy is one I fully recognise and agree with ... and seeing someone making the dream happen is wonderful.

As another family who lives off grid, I completely agree with your theory in life. You can't buy time for sure and your family is your most valuable thing in life. You mentioned that people think you become disconnected living like that...I disagree. You are more connected to the truly important things in life. Great place you have. Thanks for sharing.

He would be tickled pink to know that many people out there like me for example are incredibly jealous of his idyllic and sufficient lifestyle. The house is just perfect. No telly is a bit harsh but if your family is as busy as his, the telly is not necessary. I know the children will be better for it.
