We have been busy learning how to hang drywall. It has been a tough project to do (especially because I originally wanted to hire it out) but it has all come together and it isn't looking too bad. The inspector came through and gave us the okay to move on with the mudding and taping so that is where we will go next.

Nice work. I personally prefer yurts that have a skeletal look to them. No drywall, no insulation; where you can see all the wooden panels and rafters.

Jurrrst a lil tip pilgrims ..when doin the mudding add a lil fullcream milk powder to the mix and lil squirt of dishwashing liquid .. it gives it a light flooffy consistency and a longer work time ..makes for more funnins .. jolly good carryon pip pips..😁

Good job guys! Taping up and muffing is easy! It's fun! Just take your time enjoy the wet! Realize when you sand wet, then when it's dry you fine sand and it's with sponges! Way kewl! Bravo for your spirit and life in the round! Ross The Santa Fe Man

Nice job. While not being the fastest, I'm not that bad at installing drywall and mudding. However, I learned quickly to subcontract drywall whenever possible. Those guys are fast and efficient and I have no intent to join them anytime soon. Keep up your good work.

+Simon Forget We tried to hire out the drywall. Out of the ten or so we talked too. 9 were booked for 2-3 months and the one who wasn't was way more than we felt comfortable paying. So we rolled up our sleeves and dug in. It has been really good even though it is hard.

I would have done the same. There is no way to pay more than what is worth or to wait longer than we are comfortable with. Bottom line: you are not done yet but closer than you were before. Keep up your good work.

Looks great! I bet the shape of the yurt created a lot of waste in terms of drywall. I sure do love that ceiling every time I see it!

+Eightosaurus Spelunk it did make a lot of waste drywall. Not any good way around that. We stop and stare at the ceiling often. We love it.

I really appreciate your videos. We bought a yurt style home that was probably a lot like yours built in the late 70’s that we’ve had to completely renovate, new roof and all. So it’s been helpful to see how it went up and has given us an idea how to move forward on our home. My question is, did you do tongue and groove on your ceiling? If so, did you post a video? I’m having a hard time finding videos on how to tongue and groove ceilings like ours.

Best of luck to you. It is a tongue and groove ceiling. The video I made is kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2abpYVpgdx_maM I hope this helps and all goes well on your remodel.

This is a very cool way to build a yurt and one that I haven't seen before. Looks very solid and seems to be a very quality kit. Love the lumber quality! What yurt kit did you purchase and how do I contact them? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what did the kit cost?

I am new to your channel. I think ya'll did great! Do you mind telling how much the yurt kit cost? I really like the wood walls versus the canvas. It has a more sturdy feel. Your house is going to be beautiful.
@Simplegroundlife
@Simplegroundlife 6 жыл бұрын
+Mary West Hello and welcome. The kit was around $38,000 because I added taller walls and an extra door and the porch roof. Of course the finished cost is higher as you have to supply many of the elements yourself such as the foundation, decking and interior finish. I hope this helps.

Do you need to rough sand the edges where they meet to take care if they don't line up before mudding or just put on enough spackle that it will be smooth?
