DIY / Build Your Own Pull-up Bar At Home! This one will last forever, unlike the traditional pull-up bars are made of steel. Which causes it to rust if got wet over time, weakening the steel making it easy to rust out and break. Mines is made out of galvanized steel, which means it will not rust because it is coated with a waterproof zinc layer. It cost a little but it'll last a lifetime. You get what you pay for!
Part List:
All Galvanized Pipe
1-1/4-in x 72-in [Side poles] x2
1-1/4-in x 48-in [Top bar]
1-1/4-in x 24-in [Feet] x4
1-1/4-in dia Tee Fittings x2
1-1/4-in dia Coupling Fittings x2
(Connection for side poles)
1-1/4-in dia Cap Fittings x4

So glad I came across your video. -What a simple, effective, versatile , economical and effortless method of having pull-up bars! I was going to build mine with 4x4x10 pressure treated lumber and a 72" black pipe. After seeing your final product, I have changed my mind. Mostly because of its versatility, whereas mine, I was struggling of thinking of a place I could build it in. Thank you, sir! p.s. I love the fact that you honor your beautiful family! 7:34 $365. Price of schedule 40 steel as more than doubled since before COVID. It's all galvanized schedule 40 plumbing pipe with NPT threading, not cheap but like he said will last. No need to pain it either, just a waste of money, time and product. Only thing I would recommend is to put some anti-seize grease on the threads so it can be taken down later. Thanks for sharing.

One adjustment I would make is to use 2-3” pipes for the frame and they make reducer fittings that you can fit the 1-1/4” pipe into for the actual bar you pull on. Much stronger frame… for those of us that are heavier that is.

Really cool video, but do you think there’s a way to build this cheaper? Does it have to be galvanized steel? Most of these that I’ve seen where they’re already built is between $80-$200. Baseblock has 1 that’s like $160-$170 with shipping? I love building my own stuff though so if you have any suggestions that’s a little more economical, I’d definitely be open to it

I’m 5’11 and 155-165lbs it changes a lot lol. You’re a big guy, I would recommend you use 6x6 pressure treated wood fence for the sides and 4x4 pressure treated wood for the base. This setup is perfect for pull-ups but it’s too wobbly for the muscle up because of the force. I should know it broke on me when doing them 😅. I still would use the galvanized steel for your actual bar though just adding elbow joints and floor flanges to the tops of the 6x6. This setup will definitely be cheaper and save yourself from breaking the pull up bar and falling. Anymore questions please hit me on IG so I answer in more detail and give examples and links. EXCELLENT! THAT IS ALL I NEED OR WANT! BUT THE $25 MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION IS: WHAT DOES THAT STURDINESS LOOK LIKE IF YOU ATTEMPT TO SWING AND/OR DO MUSCLE-UPS ON THAT THING. STEEL IS THE WAY TO GO. THE ONLY THING I AM GOING TO DO DIFFERENTLY IS DOUBLE THE VERTICAL PIPES TO CONNECT A FREE-STANDING CAGE (RATHER THAN A SINGLE BAR, YOU WILL HAVE A DOUBLE PARALLEL BAR AT THE TOP AND EXTEND THE BOTTOM LEGS TO TO 48” RATHER THAN 24”s). FROM AN ENGINEERING STANDPOINT THE LONGER THE LEGS ARE, THE MORE STURDY THE STRUCTURE IF YOU ACTUALLY SWING FROM THE BARS. I WANT TO SWING TO BUILD STRENGTH AND STAMINA. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BABY! BE BLESSED!

Very cool. Don't think I can justify almost 400 dollars for a bar though. I built one out of two 4x4's in the past (moved houses). I was looking for an easier way this time but at this price, eh, idk man. Think I'll just make another 4x4 one for under 50. 4x4 8' are 10 bucks each, bury them about a foot and a half or so, bag of concrete is 5 bucks. It's a bit of a pain but the whole point is to work out right? 🤣I do like the pipe and I like how it's mobile, too. Nice work.

I bought this to replace a very similar item whose foam grips had worn after years of use. kzbin.infoUgkxwyoGHi-cCLV1AqJYj7QeIWKSpdRMYPF1 This one is is even slightly better than the old one I had! (Sorry I don't remember the brand or model.) This bar sits a bit higher in the doorway, giving me more ground clearance for movement, and the foam grips and foam pads that protect the doorway are thicker. It was also very quick and easy to assemble. The only minor gripe I have is that the hand grips in the middle are really tight on the bar, and therefore hard to slide along the bar if you want a wider or narrower grip. You have to be patient and gradually work them into the position you want.

This is way more heavy duty I am a welder and was actually thinking of doing this same approach a 9 months ago.

$360?! lol... for another $150 u can just get a REP fitness pullupbar/ squat rack and it's 10x the quality. I wouldn't recommend this route unless you really just want to DIY it. Dude doesn't look too heavy and it was wobbling. fuck that
