@s7An1 I was doing dead hangs/just hanging from bar for quite a few months before starting Hamptons progression. I was also doing overhead presses snd turkish get ups with kettlebells for a few years before starting my pull up journey. These exercises strengthen and stabilize the shoulders. So although I had never done pull ups I was a few years into my fitness/strength training journey.

What a perfect description! The Bob Ross of working out. I have a lot of hope that this guy is just the beginning of a movement of fitness fans and gym rats who reject the high-energy, photoshopped fitness world, and instead incorporate kindness, mindfulness, and authenticity into fitness! When you do that, you get this. Especially with talking to the chickens 😂

So. I am deeply, deeply depressed, have been for the past 15 years of my life, with ups and downs of course, spent a year bedridden fully catatonic and all that jazz. That being said, for about two months now I have been in another crisis, I sleep almost 20h a day, can't work, can't eat, barely bathe myself, etc. By watching your videos, right now exactly this moment, I got up and actually moved my body (aka wall pushups). Dear Hampton, I'm a 66-year-old woman and can't do pull-ups, never could, except maybe when I was a kid, but resigned to never being able to again. Then I saw your video and decided I'm going to try. I tried on the park outdoor pull-up bar, but just immediately crumpled to the ground. But I was inspired by your philosophy of doing a little bit every day. Then I bought gym rings and put them up outside my backdoor. Every time I walk past I step up, grip, step off the stool and drop down. Resigned that's all I'll ever be able to do. At least it gives my back a nice stretch. But soon I found that instead of immediately slipping off, I could hold on for a few seconds. Then 10 seconds. Then 12. Now I feel I can squeeze my shoulder blades together and make a small pulling motion. Will let you know if I ever manage to do one complete pull-up. Maybe in a year.

@@newt2120 Yeah it was really long! I had to stop working out for 6 weeks throughout March and April due to an injury so that did set me back a bit, but even considering that, it would have taken me 9 or 10 months. Surprisingly today I did 2 pull ups in a row, only 9 days after my first pull up. A lot of that previous training was probably to condition my body to do training it wasn’t used to, including strengthening joints. I’m a woman so that probably played a role in the time it took too.

Hey man just a word for you, don't ever feel insecure about what you cannot do, everyone starts somewhere and it's perfectly fine. That isn't something that you can change and everything you experience from only yourself and your own living and benefits. Why care about what others when you can only see from your own perspective and your own world. Why should you work towards being a good impression to others instead of just allowing others to accept how you look or who you are. Your face is and looks Is only one of many things that make you who you are, so start accepting and grow instead of denying.

Just came back to say: High five Hampton, you sunova gun I did it!!! 5 months ago exactly I weighed 105kg, today I'm 80kg on the dot, and your training, including this really helped me to get healthy. Now the real training begins as I'm starting to progress to more difficult exercises like pull ups. Thanks brother you're an inspiration to me to take care of my body and my life has really changed for the better.

Hey man, I'm 105 rn and can't do pullups. Can you tell your entire routine ? I'd like to incorporate some of it.
@HartyBiker
@HartyBiker 3 жыл бұрын
@@animealpha4795 to be honest I've basically just followed Hampton's workout plan. I lost about 12 kg through diet alone, then started working out. Started with inverted ring rows around chest height till I got to 3 sets of 30. Then gradually lowered the height till it was just below waist height and I could do 3 sets of 25. Then a few weeks I did some jackknife pullups and found I can now do pullups. This week I intergated 2 sets of 4 pronated pullups into my workout and for some time I've also been doing 2 sets of ring flys for a shoulder workout. I also found early on that my core strength was far too weak, so to build up to exercises like pullups and pushups I really had to focus on abs, and still sort of do. Main thing I've found is whatever progression you're up to research as much as you can about form so that even if it means you do a few less reps your form stays good and you'll get the most out of your workout and you'll progress much faster

I'm approaching 70 years old, and I could only barely do one or so pull up. But I saw your video a year ago and began doing pull-ups with my feet on a chair. After about a month or so I kicked the chair away and continued without. Yesterday I did 12 Pull-Ups which was my end ideal goal. So I'm now resetting my goal for 15! Thanks, you have some good tips, and a great personality and way of promoting this.

Hampton, you sunofagun, I did it! Almost two years ago I watched this video and started training twice a week at age 37. I wasn't sedentary, but had never done any kind of strength training. Calisthenics has changed my life, and it was your patient, positive, open-minded, and ego-free approach that helped me learn that getting fit can be for people like me too : ) 30m ago, I just did my first pull-up (and followed it up with a set of full ROM horizontal pull-ups, of course 🙂). I now feel like I have a path for fitness, mobility, and freedom unto my elder years. Thanks Hampton!
