Hey the stuff I do for my thumb that builds the front of my thumb is I’ll take a very small resistance band put it around my thumb and with a straight thumb try to touch the base of my pinkie. It works the front of the hand side of your thumb. I don’t do anything for the back of my hand back I’m guessing it’s useful to also have that area built up for armwrestling so I’d recommend tieing a small weight to your thumb and place your hand on a table with the thumb hanging off and pointed to the floor then lift the thumb until it’s parallel with the table. Hope this helps at all. :)

This isn’t just for arm wrestling. This is great for people who type all day or write all day or dental hygienists or mechanics or anyone who uses their hands all day every day. Especially the hand opening exercises. Doing these regularly will eliminate most pain in the hand and wrist.

I am a mechanic and after 35years turning a spanner I have a lot of hand, finger and forearm pain. Also nodules on tendons so my fingers lock up sometimes. Physio said to splint my fingers which is a joke. So not sure how working the bits that are sore would help. But could be worth a try.
@shannonsisk3 жыл бұрын
@@nicholaswebster1524 your flexors in your hand and wrist are likely sore, yes. These exercises work the other muscles, like hand opening muscles (extensors), while also just pumping a ton of blood into your hand to boost recovery. It’s like biceps and triceps, you gotta do both or you will probably have elbow issues.

Try walking around with a tennis ball. Grip ball and with your thumb tight against ball roll the thumb up and down kinda left and right, you don't really move it just roll.. This will strengthen the thumb at the base where the blood flow is so that the carpal tunnel is better protected. Also if you put a 3 pound weight on a table. Put your hand flat next to it so that your pointer is next to it. Push pointer out towards thumb while lying rest flat on table pushing against weight with index. There is a nerve and vein on the wrist and thumb that will be being worked.

I fell some time ago and had terrible pain in my hand and thumb because it bent back. I started using ice packs for half hour every day and they helped a lot. I was still having pains some time later when moving my hand and thumb in certain positions. I had to work on my car , sanding down the panels with an electric sander and after two days my hand felt great no pain at all. The sander I was using was an old school type where you clip on the sandpaper and it vibrates like hell. I think the vibration definitely did something and helped my hand heal quicker and its been fine ever since.

I swear by hnagboarding like a rock climber. I got my regimen from Emil Abrahamsson, a Swedish pro climber who can do more on the rolling thunder than Thor despite weighing 160lbs. Train 2x a day, every day. Ten second hold, 50 second rest. You don't have to lift your feet either. Pull enough weight to stress your fingers but not enough to hurt or even be sore the next day. In one month, already at pro strength, he increased some of his weighted hang variations by 45kg. In my arm wrestling group, plenty of guys can pin me, but no one can get through my fingers.

So you can also create or buy a pinch block. The reason this can be different than driving the school bus exercise is how you engage the tip of your thumb. When you are driving the school bus you are mostly compressing like a lobster would for example using your middle joint. With a pinch block you can also do some exercise where you are only holding the weight with the very tip of your thumb and that tip digit is fully engaged (think you your thumb bent into a lower case r shape) which works the thumb muscle more directly. Easiest cheapest way is just screw three 2x4s together and sink a hook into and attach rope which you will connect to weight.
