Great build. It's always fun to watch a master at work.

For the tube holes, you could maybe try heating up the rod and pushing it through? should melt the plastic enough to fit through...
@averycastillo7 ай бұрын
Could work, but I imagine it’d have to be done very carefully as to not melt the plastic too much and ruin how it looks. It also might end up discoloring the rods and tubes? Filing the holes by hand just seems less risky to me, but then again it might be good to try! At least for cheaper chassis builds, not sure I’d want to do it with the more expensive materials

do they make crystal chassis for the 89 skinnyflex?

I love the build I am doing a Disney proffie conversion and I want to know if I should switch out the speaker that was already with the saber or keep it there
@averycastillo7 ай бұрын
I’d personally switch it out, the speakers in disney sabers are not very good. Get yourself a Smuggler’s Outpost speaker and you won’t regret it!

Just curious - given that Korbanth sells pre-installed sabers, why buy an empty hilt to have it commissioned separately for installation? Are they getting custom parts outside of the stock items to be installed?
@averycastillo7 ай бұрын
People get empties and send them to installers mainly for a couple reasons from what I can tell. With an installer you get to have a say in what’s installed. For instance there are a lot of features or components you can add to a saber that companies like korbanth don’t include. As an example, Korbanth only uses Proffie and doesn’t use CFX. So if you want a korbanth hilt with CFX you need to buy an empty and get it installed elsewhere. There’s also OLED screens, bluetooth modules, through-blade charging, USB-C, getting real quartz crystals instead of plastic, etc. You also get to choose what chassis goes in it. Korbanth might not have an ECO CC installed option, or a Master chassis installed option. Or maybe you want an entirely custom chassis. So that’s one major reason, just having more options and customization for your saber. The other reason is reliability. In the past, Korbanth’s installs have been pretty 50/50. Not sure how they are these days but there was a good amount of time where the installs can be hit or miss. With an installer you can find someone you trust and has reputable work, in addition to having the advantage of a more personal focus on your lightsaber’s install. You’re also correct in that installers tend to use parts outside of the stock items to be installed. An example I’ll use here is that Korbanth uses Shadowfoil props pcb’s if I remember correctly. I like to use ShtokCustomWorx pcb’s, which allow for significantly more customization and feature options like chassis/blade detection, and individually addressed pcb led options. The same goes for the speakers, from my experience Korbanth uses standard 28mm speakers. I use ones made by Smuggler’s Outpost which are considered to be the very best lightsaber speakers out there. To to summarize: people go to installers instead of pre-installed because they get more customization options, more feature options, more personalized work, potentially more reliable installs, and have more/better parts options for the install. The last thing I’ll add is that people also go to installers when they have specialized hilts from limited edition runs or high accuracy productions, which often don’t offer pre-installed options. Hope this all helps!

What did you use to glue down the battery tabs? E-6000 or lock tight?
@averycastillo7 ай бұрын
Honestly depends how I’m feeling during the build 😂 Either one works, I like E6000 because you can remove it easier without damaging the chassis. It allows more room for error so in case something goes wrong somewhere in the build it can be less hassle trying to fix things. I use Loctite if I want it to be glued on faster and don’t want to wait, or if I’m confident the build is going to turn out fine

Thanks!! Looking for one that I can set up with the red button as activation. Similar to the 7chambers. I think the newer 89/Korbanth skinny flex can do at least the one main red button like this now. Appreciate what you do this is a huge help for me when I get my empty holt next month
