I'm not an engineer. I am a backwoods mechanic and also an A&P in the states. I would go with some small bearing pulleys and try them for feel at different cable tensions. I wouldn't think there would be a lot of flex in that fuselage for those runs. Put some stops in. I can't imagine what the original drawing was. Maybe something we wouldn't want to be in. Pulleys wont wear as fast as tubes and low tension. Cable tensioners put them in an easy low spot in the cockpit. Less mess with covering and having to get to them. Thanks for your videos Scott! On the original (may or may not be useful here) the bottom of the last fuselage bay, next to the tailwheel is not covered. On the original the tailskid was mounted inside the cavity which is obviously not the case here. But I imagine it might still allow access for adjusting things? It might save making an access panel. 🙂

Scott you really are going to have to think about climbing in and out! If you think it's difficult now, it will be worse with the wheels on the plane. After looking online most replicas copy the original with a foot hole behind the trailing edge and a handhold in the turtle deck.

@@scottmatthews5280 perhaps, but fillets and gussets exist for a reason. stress risers. I can't say for sure myself, but the glue does add structure, and that means the fillet should relive stress. but you're right that there isn't exactly a lot of stress on those parts as all they really do is carry the fabric and give the fuselage shape when covered.

Hi Scott, I'm just wondering whether you're making a lot of work for yourself by introducing the wing root fairings. I've got one to build (not Airdrome) and the originals didn't have them. I keep wanting you to just cut the ends of those trailing edges off and call it done... It's a real education watching you work in metal though.

Thanks, yes the trailing edge will come off, if just leaves a big 5” gap and you can see the wing mount etc. it will be a lot cleaner to the eye

Mitigate the tailwheel issues by running the cables in conduits under the fuselage which should resolve your concerns. Looking good considering using your aviation skills because there is no plans to guide you.
