If you're going to go with a rigid frame, different wheels, springer front end and a heap of other stuff, you're better off selling the 48 and putting that money towards the project bike. To be honest it's kinda pointless (and expensive) using a complete bike as spare parts for something totally different. Harley make a sportster roadster that you can modify with a genuine HD factory cafe' racer kit.
@leechamberlain12734 жыл бұрын
I was going to say the exact same thing , you beat me to it . If your going to start with a new Frame , Wheels , front end , your basicaly saying your going to put the 48 engine in , so yeah start from scratch and seel the bike as is .
@rogershipman35784 жыл бұрын
He doesn't want a ready made bike or a kit, he wants a genuine build. The way Americans have done it for 100 years. That means use what you have. He will probably do a weld on rigid rear end anyway. Real bike builders know what he's talking about.
@invinciblevettel54 жыл бұрын
@@rogershipman3578 If you care to read what I said "roger" I suggested starting from scratch, rather than use a perfectly good bike as spare parts. That would be idiotic at best and needlessly expensive. What exactly makes you a "real bike builder"?

So glad you are transplanting into a new frame, because you are beyond the man that you were when this bike first entered your life. This bike needs a new soul, not a dress-up. A new frame is ambitious, but since when have you done things by half? On the other hand, your arse is gonna hate you and you've gotta ride the thing. If anyone can make a kick-arse 48 bobber, it's you and Col. Love your choice, it's the only way to live and it's what this bike represents. Can't lose either way. And when Col said "..have I failed?", I laughed my arse off. Bloody love Col, a man like that can steward that 48 into being truly the transformative bike for the transformative man. You are a bloody legend and a good man Danny.

Great vid! Just turned 60. Getting back into bikes. After watching your vids, I bought my first Harley, a RK Classic. Love it!. I’ve been looking for a bike to chop, for around town. Softail Slim looks like a ridged, but has suspension or a 2009ish Fat Bob. I like the big bikes with the big tank. Bronze would be very cool. I’m considering bronze wheels for my Hemi Challenger 1320. Good luck. I’ll be following from Annapolis. MD.🇺🇸🇨🇦
