Building Better Fences for our Australian Dingo

It’s been a busy start to the year here at the farm with all hands and paws on deck to create more Dingo secure areas on the farm.
Cruiser has shown he can easily climb our fences if he wants to. Never to leave, but always to be with his pack.
He has soured a couple of relationships, which means we have not been able to fully integrate him with the whole pack. Only about three quarters. We still live in absolute hope that this will one day change.
But … until then … we want to give him the best life we possibly can, besides a life in the wild.
More freedom. And a Dingo companion. This is our goal for 2024. We’ve got a lot of work to do to get there but we’re starting out strong with lots of help from our family. Thank you Bernie, Johnny, Nick and Dad.

Actually it was the one chore everyone in my family loved doing! Something about the soothing vibrations and mindless ambling... time to think 🤔. Feeding & watering time in the morning was also a favorite part of my day on my own little farm years ago. And grooming the horses. Oh shit, I just miss it all😂.

I am loving Sam's new editing style the last couple of videos of inserting examples from of what Luke is referring to into the videos while he's talking. Anytime Luke has a big project all the 4 legged children are right there. When he built the cabins for the relatives to come visit don't kno at times how Luke could pound a nail as some of those "children" had their noses right in there. It was so cute. Oh Wow !!! Cruiser has the most amazing life, and you are looking at making it better for him. This is wonderful. Then there's the happy idea of a companion for dingo talk, play and companionship that is only understood by another Dingo. I also love the "alfresco area" built for the dogs, but I notice they really appreciate the foundation level in the awful heat and humidity. scope of consideration regarding a companion for Cruiser must be more than we are grasping at the moment. I have so many questions about your check list as you start your search. As with everything the Farm is doing now we are happy you are still sharing with us and taking us along with you on this amazing Cruiser journey! I think it's more of an alpha thing. That's why Roscoe, Joey, and Tilly (and sometimes Freddo) are kept out of Cruisers way. They all have alpha qualities. Tank is friendly as can be but will not get pushed around. He will protect his limits. For some reason, Cruiser likes to poke them.

Have a 65 lb Husky shepherd mix, Buckeye, and he broke thru welds on a gate, climbs a 4 foot fence, only 1/2 acre of yard. He even bent a 1/2 inch steel pipe when I had him hooked to a cable while I fixed the gate, the next day he broke the 100lb rated cable. He is free to run now that it has been Buckeye proofed.

That's great news for Cruiser. Thank you to all your hands-on helpers. I do hope that, when they eventually meet, Cruiser gets on with Moose the way he does with Rover. Fingers crossed. I think bringing in a partner for Cruiser, who he can talk Dingo with, is great but how would that work with the dynamics of a larger pack, particularly as there are a few male participants which goes against the usual pack dynamics for Dingos. I can't wait to see how it all pans out, successfully I hope.

Love your commitment! Dingoes are made different and move more like big cats than dogs, they can scale almost any fence and walk along the top edge like a cat or an Avatar! Not an easy pet to manage.

I can't but wonder what will happen to Cruiser's willingness to integrate with the pack once he has his life's companion, so to speak. Will he get protective and aggressive towards the others? Will they both get protective or will they settle down and accept a large pack into their lives? We'll see in the next installments. Whatever happens, I know that Luke and Sam will deal with it in their own sensitive and knowledgeable way.

I’m really glad you’re doing this for Cruiser! It looks great! I hope you will be able to find just the right girl dingo for him. Who ever knew you would be looking for a date for your dingo? Lol. I still feel sad that he doesn’t like sweet Tanky boy, but I’m glad you’re doing what you do to keep everyone safe and still let them all have the best lives, and now Cruiser’s will be even better. I know it will be great once he has a dingo mate of his own so he won’t have to be alone at all anymore, and maybe Tank’s Bunch can spend a bit less time away from the rest of the pack too. I’m wondering if that Dingo that is being held in captivity at that Reptile place is a female and if so, would you consider her freedom first? Hoping that the Reptile place would do the right thing and set her free. 🐾❤️🐾❤️
