How does the Pack Dynamics Change when another Dog Joins the Pack | Moose the Boxer UPDATE

What is it really like when a new dog joins an already big pack of dogs? And cats. And kids. And a Dingo too.
Moose the almost two year old Boxer has joined our BIG family pack and we love him already. But it’s no surprise that there’s a little bit of work to do to help everyone get along.
Moose is already making friends, learning the rules and discovering the fun never ends on the farm.
But what do some of the other pack members think of our new family member?
We have a chat about what’s been happening since Moose arrived.

Boxers are just so dang smart, and friendly and goofy. Of course he fits right in. I'm happy you're not having to work too hard at this one Luke! Dear friends from the Farm, Rover is a perfect example of APBT from the famous Eli bloodline, which is adorned by big bull dogs. Such is his DNA analysis, athleticism, intelligence and self-confidence in dealing with other dogs and people, but also the brutality he showed before the cure. What a dog. Wow! The dynamics are interesting in the pack: Roscoe is always a needy fellow, but this Moose has him confused a bit! The pack "feels" good to me, though. Maggie and Hope are pleased; Rover thinks he is now the deputy for vetting newcomers; Freddo says "too much crazy for me", and Cutie Pie wisely knows when to stay clear of the fracas. Hi Everyone, this is such a heartwarming discussion between Luke and Sam about Moosey boy's acclimation into the family pack of big personalities at The Farm. Pack dynamics are my favorite discussions to listen to because it allows us to peek into these relationships and how Luke manages them. Moose has been a JOY to watch since the moment Sam first started recording him! I have fallen head over heels in ❤ with that boy! On a personal note, Sweetie and I have been fostering a beautiful border collie x Shepherd (?) mix for the last 5 months and he is finally going to his furever home in just a few short hours. He is my first foster and I have such mixed emotions seeing him go. Luke, I never thought I'd foster, but because of you, I felt compelled to help a dog stay out of the shelter when his owner passed away. I understand a bit more why people do foster beyond the obvious reasons. It's a heart thing.💚 God speed, Mr. Matthew, in your new family life! I love you.

I tend to think that Roscoe's "me, me, me" thing could also be viewed as a life long feeling of "please, please, please don't forget about me." I think he doesn't want to be made to feel invisible which is very funny since no one could miss seeing him! Maybe this is the same as jealousy but jealousy is so negative and it's hard to see Roscoe as negative in any way. So good to see all the dogs having such a good time. And Sam and Luke, you two look more relaxed than I've seen for a while. Many wishes for wellbeing all around. ♥

Watching Luke rough house with the gorgeous Moose, brought back wonderful memories of my son rough housing with my wonderful Boofa. I love Boxers big jowls that always have a smile on them but they always give you the best cuddles as well. Yes, I am biased as I grew up with a boxer and a Labrador. Caesar was my mum’s dog who refused to swim and if Mum went for a swim the whole world heard about it until she got out of the water. Though he would never share the sprinkler with anyone. Then Julie our Labrador was a total family dog, if swimming was whispered she’d be waiting on the front porch to go. She was always first in the water but even think bath and she would be under the house and I would have climb under to get her. Boofa became my granddaughter’s best friend as they were introduced when she was a whole 3 days old. She learnt to walk by holding his collar and when he passed she was heartbroken but she frequently speaks of him. Thank you so much for this wonderfully fun update and I will now wait for the next one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yes. It’s the same behaviour he had when he came to the farm. Aggression for any dog he meets. He’s one Luke always has to shadow with introductions. It never eventuates other than posturing and stiffness, because Luke is interrupting it. But we joke about it because 5 mins later he’s like so you wanna play?? 🙈😂

Did anyone else notice in the clip with Moose and Rover at the beginning- Freddo kept putting himself in between them as if trying to protect Rover from the jumping Moose? I wonder if Freddo and Banjo are slow to warm up in reference to missing Barney and not wanting another dog ‘taking his place’? Lastly, did Luke get a new Ranger? It looks all new and shiny- hope so- the broken door always worried me with the kiddos riding in it even with the seatbelts on. Glad to hear Sam laugh and to see how happy Luke is- it was a tough December- so glad January (and Moose) has brought happiness to the farm. PS- I keep looking for that big THE FARM- flag to be flying in the distance- hope it gets displayed!
