I took Anomaly’s class at Duke. The only class in four years that excited me to go to. Admittedly, I was a little intimidated by him… but he’s the man.

I think the best strategy for dealing with critics from blank-slate left is to say "Yeah, exactly! Silly rich people think their embryo selection will actually do something! Why would you want to stop them from wasting their money?"

Jonathan should launch an online PPE course for people outside academia. I would surely take it. Edit: After writing this comment, I visited Jonathan's website and found this series from the institute of humane studies. It is exactly what I was looking for: kzbin.info/aero/PLNeQlRoOOIMnPu92i-V0alFYHuGTkexfP

The part about pluripotent stem cells is super interesting. I wonder when that technology will be available to consumers. Seems like a game changer for infertile women.

100% pro eugenics. You should talk to GWERN about his review of IVF and embryo selection

Regarding Hanania's point about Orbán, I think he is right that there is exaggeration about Orbán politics, however, Orbán is an ethnonationalist in a basically explicit way, he has spoken out against race mixing recently, and I doubt that was the norm in the West only 20 or 30 years ago, especially for country leaders. This probably varied by country and politician, but remember that Enoch Powell was sidelined because of a immigration restrictionism speech with ethnonationalist tones, and remember that Reagan's last speech was about how diversity is the US strength. It is worth noting, however, that Hungarians are ethnonationalists, so Orbán is just reflecting their views. All the other Central-Eastern Europeans also tend to be more ethnonationalist than Westerners, but if you look at the polls, Hungary stands out a lot of the time, along with countries like Czechia, Slovakia, Lithuania and Bulgaria. Regarding religion, funny enough Hungarians are not very religious, they are equal to Western Europeans in levels of secularism.
