8020 has recommended torque specs for the screws. That would be beneficial for for moving applications like trailer cabinets. The 2° drop lock feature engages when the fasteners are properly torqued. I would recommend a thread locker like Loctite or Vibratite Plan your build. Think of how it will go together. Some fasteners won’t work in certain applications due to size constraints 8020 will tag (if requested) extrusions, panels, brackets/plates, and a few other things (no hardware - will be labeled). This is a free service. It makes large builds with many cuts, panels, machining, etc. so much easier When assembling, use cardboard, mats, knee pads, etc. when you have to kneel or lie on the floor to assemble components Do you have any t-slot mounted panels? If so get panel gasket if you don’t want get annoyed by the panels rattling

Binge watching whole channel. Great ideas. I like that even though sometimes things turn out differently or issues arrise you keep going and find a work around.

I am about to take on a 23' Cargo Trailer for some similar reasons. These videos are great, and are going to help a ton! If there is anyway I could reach out for more info that would be awesome, as I have some specific challenges for my build. Thanks for the videos!

Hey guys you can get 80/20 from your Local Metal Suppliers & save yourself a ton on shipping. They also cut to your specific sizes. Build with the 15 Series & save yourself a lot of Time, Frustration, Money in Fasteners & most of all using already available standard Fasteners like 5/16" Carriage Bolts from Lowes, Home Depot etc. I made my own 1-1/2" Angle Brackets that are a lot stronger, with 1-1/2" x 1/8" thick Aluminum Angle Iron. It's a lot cheaper & easier to get Standard Parts for the 80/20, 15 Series Build from Local Suppliers. Cheers from Toronto, Canada.

Seems like you could have saved a bunch of weight and cost on those upper cabinets. I would have bolted the upper front extrusion to the roof and skipped the rear extrusions as well as the upper middle cross pieces. Basically giving you an L-shaped half cabinet solution.

Very cool video. I enjoyed watching it. Did you use loctite on the screws that hold the extrusion? It always looks like those screws will come loose with all the vibration.

Hi. Now that you have installed the aluminum extrusion, do you fell that the 7x14 trailer is large enough? I know that the size also depend on towing weight etc. The reason I ask is that I’m looking at converting one myself. In fact I’m going tomorrow to take a look at an 8’5”x16’ and a 8’5”x20’ LoadRunner car haulers. I’m just not sure which I should go with. The good thing is that it’s only me so I think either would fit. I’ve went as far as outlining my living room floor with painters tape 8.5x20 as well as putting a piece of tape at the 16’ mark. I had also thought about using Stella studs for the bathroom and shower walls and the aluminum extrusion for the cabinets, but I’m reconsidering the aluminum extrusions and thinking about going with 1X2’s. Keep up the good work!

It's a highly personal decision. I think the size is perfect. Any larger and I would have wasted space.
@scottgorman71662 жыл бұрын
If you have a large 3/4 ton truck go with the bigger one. Space gets used up very fast with modifications I had a 7x18x8 custom built.

I've been considering an 8.5x18 or 20. Saw a 24' available somewhere too. I'm tall so I'd need something with extra height too. Been working on plans in SketchUp. Maybe someday.
@davidanderson47052 жыл бұрын
@@W4ABN I think I'm going to settle for the 8.5x18. I see that Trailers Plus has a round top in my area. I may get it this coming Saturday. I also need to brush up on Sketchup.

@@davidanderson4705 that'll be a good size. Good luck in planning it out and putting it together.

Did you download or create a library of symbols for the Extruded Aluminum for Sketchup, or did you draw everything yourself. Because I'm not sure how long it's going to take me to figure out how to use Sketchup
@diycargotrailer2 жыл бұрын
I learned Sketchup. It only takes a few hours of playing with it while watching some videos on KZbin to figure it out. And now I use it for lots of projects.

@@diycargotrailer I have learned the basics of Sketchup but having trouble finding and working with aluminum extrusion profiles of the right size within sketch up so that I can build a Sketch up model with them. Can you suggest anything to help me get my design off the ground? Thanks so much for sharing what you learned about aluminum extrusion parts. Super helpful!

So, so. Not for beginners. No mention that I can decern if using metric or non metric sized materials. Need more close up in-depth video. And sources of materials would help.
