The siding of the new cabin is Exquisite!!!🤩 LOVE the Bark, myself. The Door is Sweet. And Jen is right about sliding the couch over to the blank wall. OR…. Place the couch on the far wall so it faces the front door. This gives a welcoming feeling upon entering the cabin. If your washing machine and dryer(?) are both front-loading, a countertop over the two of them would refine their appearance. A little fridge can go anywhere 😊. Whatever you two decide to do, if it works for you, it will be GREAT 👍 👍 -V

Jenn is right! The couch needs to go on the windowless wall. You want to be able to get in the bed from both sides of the bed. That also makes it easier to put sheets on the bed.

Love the look! I ALWAYS prefer live edge lumber! BTW, several channels I follow, swear by always starting on a back wall to begin with and finish on the fron. The thought being, that if you are going to have mistakes, they usually happen early. By the time you get to the final wall, you have your technique down cold! ❤❤

MATCHY MATCH......I agree matching buildings is the way to go....woot woot looking great.... I just realized how close in proximity we live, I am in southern Ontario, we could probably draw a line across lake Huron and pretty much be on par with each other.... no wonder I see such a similarity in the forest landscapes and the weather you show on your channel. Love the plaid sleeper- perfect fit in my opinion. Quite frankly- right, wrong or indifferent, I like the look of the bark left on the wood. Gives it contrast and a more rustic look. As long as the overlap covers the potential area of exposure once the bark falls off, it shouldn't really matter. The oil will definitely help for longevity.

@@OffgridwithJayandJen -If you want to preserve that look longer, you could grab some polyurethane and brush it on the areas of bark edge or just let if fall off naturally as it dries and shrinks. Sealing it would also help deter insect infestation over time. Just throwing that out as a side note 😊 -But that takes time to apply which is sometimes scarce with so many projects "always" in the works~ Stay safe!

Love the live edge, with and without, bark. It think the changes as time passes gives it a lived in look. Keep it up. I was surprised to hear you say the bark wears the saw blades. Interesting.

Ya the bark doesn't help with the blades and it picks up dirt during transport, could clean it or drag elevated if I had the right set up

Love, loooove, the wall panels, sets the whole building apart. Your interior could have been done with your milled timber squared off too. Cheaper too than buying your panelling. Looks lovely the whole job and the door, very rustic, when can I move in. 😊

If you leave the couch where it is a small end table with a lamp on it would be good. Your small kitchen maybe set between the two windows on the backside as you walk in the cabin or on the wall to your left when you enter the cabin?? Beautiful wood siding inside and out....LOVE IT!!!

If you built a big sawmill covering you would have the option to mill for others. They could bring you logs for fireplace mantles, siding, etc and pay you to cut then you keep the slabs for wood heat.
