Welding right on top of plastic , do the outriggers keep your yak floating with Holes in it ? Or is the Kayak in video used as a Jig then buy a new one to put them on ?

How come you’re wearing a glove on your right hand and not your left hand. Kinda defeats the purpose.
@eragonshadeslayer16 жыл бұрын
yea i agree with dentray because my dad was grinding on a combine wheel and a spark flew into his left eye and cut the nerve in the back of his eye, he had to go to hospital and have his eye taken out of his head to repair the damage to the nerve and had his eye put back in and he only had 50% of his eye sight left, so if you dont want something like that to happen to you i highly suggest you wear eye protection

Cut with your grinder from the other side or flip it over and the sparks, metal will go tothe floor not in your face. Looks good thogh.

How much weight did you add to your kayak with those outriggers?
@singleman19867 жыл бұрын
Yep. Outriggers on a kayak or canoe are a MUST for old dudes like me. Well done.
@acoutdoors11487 жыл бұрын
+singleman Thanks man! I was surprised at how much of a difference they made.
@singleman19867 жыл бұрын
I wasn't surprised. The Polynesians were using them to great advantage by the time they started experimenting with sails. The next 'logical' step up was the 'Catamaran'. HELL of a sailing craft. Just keep on pushing at the limits of your imagination Sir. Our ability to 'imagine' is truly what raises us above the other beasts we share this planet with.

sorry dude, I just couldn't watch! Guard off angle grinder, no gloves, no eye protection, cutting toward your self. This is like a video demonstrating all the wrong things to do with an angle grinder. I appreciate the effort you put into this, but mate, your not superman. wear some gear, use the guards, use some technique!
@barrylitchfield2505 жыл бұрын
The techno-garble background noise doesn't add to your video. I'd much rather hear the sounds of your work in progress. I also wondered about your welding on top of a poly plastic boat. Doesn't that leave pitting in the plastic?

This was 3 years ago. Glad you weren't injured in the process. How are the outriggers holding up? Does the foam soak up water?
@zahersyed37436 жыл бұрын
Great welding job! Not the best shape for the outriggers. They will give you some stability, but will cause a lot of drag. Search "Crab floats" they have a better design to cut through water. All in all good effort.

Ripped outriggers out on this exact same kayak, it cannot handle them. And I had backing plates and stuff. If you are watching this video and have this kayak don't put any outriggers on it. Definitely don't do it this way.

I'm a D1-1 certified APW and I do not own a wire feed mig/tig welder Great project but one 90% of fisherman do not have the equipment to make. Lastly I would not make my out rigger supports from non-galvinized steel and likely only Aluminum if I chose to use metal at all for both the savings in weight and so rust doesn't leach all over my Kayak Make lots of treestands from non-galvinized steel and went to great lengths to prep it and paint the steel and with less than three years tgexsteel began to rust This is simply unavoidable

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
