Hey friends! Sorry for the loud music/audio at the end of the video - not sure what happened! If you couldn't catch what was being said, I was just being mushy and talking about how rad it's been to help make my other half's dreams come true in this retail space. Was also saying thanks for being part of this journey with me! Much love to all of you! 💕

Hey Sam, first, please wear more PPE when you're handling circular saws and so on. I get it. It's not always comfortable and another thing you have to wear but please protect your lungs. Second, tell me more about that caulk epoxy. That could be a huge time saver for me. Finally (as if that's not enough) how did you plug up the caulk to prevent it drying out? Thanks! As always that was fun to watch. Lots of work to do of course!

New Sub here, as a designer, I will offer a bit of retail advice. ADA code restricts the height of counters used for Point of Sale to no higher than 36”. In NY, I typically hold the height to 35” to easily pass inspection. I didn’t catch you mention if this counter/display case will be the front counter/cashier or not. If not, you’re good. If so maybe you can just shorten it down at the bottom. I am really enjoying your content. I’ll be binging your vids while you’re taking some time off for the holidays. I’m excited for more DIY, welding and fabricating fun. Good luck to your partner on his new retail business, very exciting!

Why didn't you just put finishing trim on the front versus wasting an entire sheet of wood? Also, was there a reason for not inserting the glass in the one with pre-cut vs the on without?
@EdwardIglesias3 жыл бұрын
Really awesome project. Everything looks very high end and custom. I am most impressed my your clean cuts. I was working on a project recently with a saw that did not go all the way through and I had to flip the wood over and saw again from the other side. Let's just say my results wern't as good as yours.

Thank you! It’s tricky, for sure!
@djmad3113 жыл бұрын
Nice build! One question: I have not seen this in the video but did you seal in any way the underside of the slab? If not are you not concerned it will absorbed different amount of moisture (top vs. bottom) resulting in a cupping or bowing?!
@diyhuntress3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I forgot to add that - but, I added some furniture butter to the bottom. This slab is so thick that it probably didn’t need that. But, I always well both sides, just in case!

For a square end why not just use a circular saw and a speed square? Your trick will work but you'll have to include some "extra" that you'll cut off.
@diyhuntress2 жыл бұрын
Either way I had to create a perfect straight edge on each side before cutting the miter from that reference. Square could work, but it’s a very wide piece. Grateful for my track saw!
