Cheers Simon, I have done a few in plaster, mine included but I tend to stay away from it in finished houses like this as plastering can be messy, well done if having a go though mate ! And as long as the mrs is happy that’s the main thing lol

I’m a plasterer and board and skim loads of these lately! Nightmare to bead up so I like the MDF route however I’m not as skilled as you with wood lol! I’m building one at home as the Mrs is on my case forever over it! Gotta say lad this looks absolutely top class! Very clever mate👊👊

cracking job, picked up a few tricks from this! If you use MR or Medite MDF mate you dont need to filler the edges. Also, for the bottoms of your shelves, use modesty blocks so you dont need to clamp and wait for glue to dry! alsoooo, if you use a bit of oak coloured mapei, or wood filler, right on the mitred edges of the shelf front (enough for a bit of squeeze out), it sands down and makes the join completely invisible

Nice job pal my only concern wth these tv units, (and I'm talking from experience 😪) Is when the tv goes pop, trying get another of the exact same external dimensions is almost impossible.

Irs amazong, we alwaus want what we dont have. I have a chimly breast in all 4 of my downstairs and up stairs rooms. We have discussed over the years tsling two of them down to creat more space. Though my house is a tad older than this newer eatate house. 1911 mine was built, and is as drafty as its old.

@LTWCarpentry not gonna lie. Feeling nervous before it starts. One guy suggested building it with MDF and then we can paint it white, and the second guy suggested using Pine so we can wax it after. Not too sure what to do. Any suggestions or hints? Much appreciated.

End result looks great and great work but that waisted space above the tv would drive me mental when our english houses have such poor storage space. Matching shaker doors above the tv and shaker draws below the fire would still look great while giving extra storage space.

It seems common with these builds on KZbin that the design fails to allow plenty of air room around the sound bars. The close confines makes for an overly bass sound and make speech muffled especially if they have end fire speakers.

@LTWCarpentry I build media walls with box holes all covered in plasterboard with lights behind a lip for effect. I think these ones with shelves are cheap looking, best to put the extra work in and add the led lights for that professional finish
