Building DARTH VADERS TIE FIGHTER - Star Wars Model

Let's build Darth Vader's Tie Advanced Fighter from Star Wars!
The X1 was an advanced prototype starfighter, tested famously by Darth Vader. Unlike the standard TIE fighter, the X1 has deflector shields and a hyperdrive which allowed Vader to escape after the destruction of the Death Star in Star Wars IV 'A New Hope'. Revell 1/121 scale kit.
Revell provided me with this kit for free, however they have not paid me or told me what to do or say. My opinions are honest and my own.

Good job on keeping the paint flat & dry & not shiny or semi gloss like other people do making their kits look like toy when they can easily look like movie props simply by keeping them super flat with no shine like in the movies

Great first kit Kendall. Revell paints are an improvement on Humbrol, however there are better paints out there that even when using a brush can achieve a nice smooth finish (Tamiya, Mr Hobby etc). Another point is that masking tape is not limited to use with air brushes. Even before I bought an air brush (and I have only been using one for just over a year) I used masking tape for brush painting. Aircraft (and space ships) have large surfaces where crisp straight lines are often required, masking tape is the best way to achieve that.

BTW I used to use household decorating masking tape until I discovered modellers masking tape. The disadvantage of the decorating masking tape is that it is usually to sticky and there is a danger of ripping off coats of paint (still it was better than using nothing). This doesn't happen with the proper modellers masking tape. Also even with brush painting it is a good idea to use primer first, it tends to bite into the surface so further coats cover better.

There this stuff called PRIMER it’s helps the paint stick. No modeller paints straight onto the plastic.your results were good. Always prime you models, miniatures. Also micro sol and set melt the decals to the model. It stops the fogging.

A spray primer might help before painting these types of kits. Some paints don't hold well on certain types of kits without a primer even if you do wash them.

Revell SW kits aren't made to a constant scale IIRC, so you might have to go for Bandai's.

First of all it's pronounced Re - VELL . Like in HELL, YELL, SMELL, TELL, SELL, BELL, QUELL, CELL, etc. Don't be so damned ignorant!! This must be the 1/72nd scale version. It's called a WINDSHIELD - not view point. Also Tuh-MY- YA is how it's properly said although all the dumbasses say the same wrong way that you do in this video. Not bad although very amaturish in the way that this was painted - there are references out there on the modeling forums. I take it that you don't build very often or that this is one of the first models that you've ever built. Take more time to understand the products that you use and familiarize yourself with the myriad of modeling products and brands and how to say their name right if you're going to do videos on this subject. It's good to see females in this genre as it's dominated by men. Mostly OLD men since the advent of the video game which is a predetermined outcome no matter how many times that you do it has helped to hurt the board game and craft industry! Its too bad as this is one of the most satisfying things that I know. Thank you any way and keep on building.
