Wow Chuck! That is very involved. I've noticed and never cared for playing Ovation guitars because of the diminished volume to the player. But alway thought Ovations sounded good from out front. A sound port on that style guitar might be very helpful from the play perspective. I appreciate you sharing your process on this guitar very much, thanks Chuck.

You've put some thought into this plus your level of luthier skills are obvious. Nicely done.

Can I adopt you as my dad? lol. I've been building guitars for about 15 years, and I am about to make the jump into acoustics. Your approach to experimenting is uncannily similar to mine. I just subscribed. Keep up the good work!

I want to experiment with delta baffles (think Flowmastser mufflers) to create a deep low end sound

Yes, I have experimented with that. There are opposing factors depending on how you design it that can skew the effect you are looking for. Have fun !

All very interesting, but what I don't understand is how you would make such effort, then say "I've been told it's loud" etc. Surely you can listen to another player playing it, and / or test it for volume, and know for sure? You're a scientific builder Chuck, so didn't the science extend in to analysing results? I love your videos btw, and have watched many.

Very perceptive of you. :) I built this guitar during the pandemic and I didn't have access to other players. I was curious about this style of construction and I worked out some techniques that I cover in other videos. I still have this guitar and some day I may look into it a bit more. My intension was to replace the top, but I haven't gotten to it yet. So it is available if anyone wants to see/hear it.

It looks too heavy. Guitars are built for sound :-)
