Personally, I’ve had expensive Pitbull shocks, had spent $200 on two pairs of shocks so I thought for $80 for the Dravtechs was a bargain! For me, they’re the best performing shocks I’ve ever had and I own two crawlers that are sporting them. I prefer them on my technical trucks that can creep slow up rocks and terrain! I’ve had ProLine scalers, Vanquish S8E, Incision and Axial scx10 3 shocks. I find that since Dravtechs are based off Traxxsas big bore design, they really are the best shocks out there and provide the most supple movement. Shocks. Well worth the money when you’re ordering them you can get them in multiple colors. You can get them in two different colors for the body and caps and spring cups on the same shock so you can get them to match the theme of your trucks paint scheme. The Traxxas rebuild seals and clips kit part #2362 are only about $5 to $6 dollars per pair of shocks when needed so this is a great option to rebuild on your own!

Excellent video! My only suggestion is to fill the shocks before adding the springs, I find it easier (but your method is good as well).

I would say probably not since those internal spring shocks do not use diaphragm seals as far as I’ve seen.

Thx. Green slime has been my go to for a long time. I haven’t seen it add stiction and seems to help long term reducing leaks/wear.

27:58 why the hell is the rebound so slow? your using very thin oil.

@crawlersncustoms Жыл бұрын
Very soft springs.
@bryanmatheis2194
@bryanmatheis2194 2 ай бұрын
You don’t want fast rebound on crawler shocks to begin with! 👍🏼 Besides by the time you install them to the vehicle and have the gravity of your rigs axles and wheel weight, the shock travel speed would be much quicker than with the shock by itself!

I would insert the rod into the shock body first. Than run o-rings and spacers through the shock shaft. Just to avoid damaging the seals from the threads of the rod. How would I setup for full droop? Thanks for the video.
@crawlersncustoms
@crawlersncustoms Жыл бұрын
That’s likely a better way. Sometimes I turn them while installing but I’ll try that next time. With soft springs on portal rigs I’m usually fully bottomed out/droop to compensate for the added height from the portals.

so to change springs you have to unscrew the rod end, theres no thread preload collar, they use a snap ring instead of a screw on cap and theres no bleed screw or even hole. any adjustment you want to make is so much harder and time consuming than every other shock i have ever seen. combine the pain in the ass with adjustment/tuning with the assembly process and its a shock with some extremely stupid designs. why the hell are these so popular?
@crawlersncustoms
@crawlersncustoms Жыл бұрын
Because they work well and the low stack height.

Very informative video, props to you. However, from my experience, the cons out weigh the pros for these shocks for what they cost. Poor customer support: I've sent many emails for support and weeks for one response about a missing C-clip from the package set that I bought. I asked for a replacement, no response, I wanted a refund got no response. I gave up and custom made a C-clip to fit because its difficult to find the special C-Clip they use. Oil leaks from threads on all shocks (poor design flaw) and probably not engineered or threaded by a professional shop that understands tolerances or thread pitch. I gave these guys a shot with my own money but will buy another brand.
