A few tips for mining ships: - As others have said, don't have thrusters to push down, gravity will do that for you. Prioritize lift thrust and backwards thrust. It's easy to build up speed, then realize you are rocketing towards your base like an unstoppable freight train. Heh. You are usually tipped down to mine so we need lift and backwards thrust most. - In vanilla, don't use the large small block thrusters. They are massively out of balance. I think it's 6 or 7 small thrusters have more power than one large thruster. Odd that Keen has never balanced that. The large small block hydrogen thruster is ever farther out of balance. - Small block drills are most effective when they are three blocks apart from each other. - I try to put a connector set to eject with a sorter to dump all the stone so I only get pure ore. It's optional though. - Interior lights on the ship set to full radius and 1 intensity are great for lighting up the area around you. Otherwise I have to say, it needed some tweeking but its a very nice looking ship. Great profile, especially from above. Loving the series! Looking forward to more episodes!

I avoid atmospheric thrusters like the plague. I upgrade to hydrogen as soon as I can for the extra power and lift. The biggest bonus is not waiting for your ship to recharge since hydrogen refills the tank(s) in less then a minute.

Hey Bob o/ 2 shortcuts for you. First, you can recharge in a passenger seat way faster than the the survival kit and it is way cheaper to make than the med bay. Second, in the GPS menu you can toggle markers on and off by double clicking.

Call your miner the Unsinkable. Take off the upward facing thruster, your in gravity. Lol. All that will do is make you go down way too fast. Also you dont need that much forward thrust either, its just taxing your battery more than you need. With the drill point it down again but go rotor, hinge then drill. That way you can spin it around while slowly bringing it up to horizontal.

Yeah the quickest fix is to turn those large atmospheric thrusters down and point the small atmospheric thrusters to the back

The least efficient thrusters are atmos, the best are hydrogen thrusters. If you are going to use that ship like that then a vertical drill set up is far better. That was the build in the old days.

If you put an air vent on the outside of the house set to depressurise, and one directly connected to it in the house set to pressurise , you will get breathable air in the house.

I totally forgot you're in Valdosta, which is 3 hours southeast of me. Helene just barely missed us. A friend of mine is just 25 miles northeast of me, and he got hit pretty hard. I'm glad you're safe! When naming vehicles, I always look for a Gaelic word similar to the purpose of said vehicle. My miner is called "Dreag," which translates as "meteor" because ores comes from space via meteors.

Call it "Bob's Nugget Nibbler" For the Thrusters, I would focus most powerful thrusters on being able to hold the ship up while drilling down and traveling home. So downwards thrust and the backwards thrust - allows you to be angled down while drilling without being scared of losing altitude. I do think the large thrusters might be overkill for the miner, and the reason your battery overloads - So, either smaller thrusters or more batteries. lol

At 11:20 Another error in your ship build, I have not seen your ship build yet but this tells me that you are not acquainted with the different efficient ship options, such as the O2/H2 generator, it has two small ports that it fits nicely at the back of the cockpit, and it has a big port opposite, this is the natural extension for the next item, your small grid large cargo container.

I'm the asshat that would let you or anyone build the miner, say it's done then fill every single cargo container while it's still in base and tell them to do a test flight. Am I a bad person... (As a VERY small mercy I would build blocks in the cardinal directions around the frame of the landing zone)
