Thanks for making a build on Grumgully! It was my first commander deck, and on a $20 budget because I was a broke college student. I've built more than a dozen decks since then, but GR +1/+1 counters and persist combo will always be my baby

There's a minor quibble about the whole "+1/+1 and -1/-1 counters destroy each other instantly" line. If enough -1/-1 counters are put on a creature to kill it, the creature dies before the counters can annihilate each other. 99.999% of the time this won't matter but if, say an opponent has a Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite in play and this in play dies, the persist will bring it back with a -1/-1 counter, Grumgully will give it a +1/+1 counter, and then it will die again. Because it died with a -1/-1 counter, it stays dead.

I'd add Boggart Shenanigans and Chishiro the shattered blade which will constantly increase the number of 1/1 counters at the end of each turn

A few suggestions... Spikeshot Elder and Spikeshot Goblin- These guys are repeatable bite effects and LOVE getting buffed with 1/1 counters (or with anything else). If you've got the mana Spikeshot Elder is spammable. Goblin Warrens- Pay 2R and sac two goblins to make THREE goblins. If you've got extra mana turn your goblins into MORE goblins. Dark-Dweller Oracle- Cut Rob the Archives for something that's repeatable and on a goblin.^^ Goblin Assassin- Every Goblin you have is now a potential edict effect... and you're going to have goblin tokens to burn anyhow. Goblin Chirurgeon- Sacrifice a goblin to regenerate target creature. This can target itself, it can target non-goblins, it can even target your opponents things on the off chance that's relevant. Regenerate won't work against everything (see exile or -X/-X effects) but it'll make your board VERY annoying to get rid of. Shivan Harvest- Cheap, easy, and repeatable way to deal with any annoying non-basics you may run into. Mogg Raider- Functionally a 2nd copy of Goblin Sledder Viashino Heretic - Not a goblin but a cheap and repeatable way to deal with artifacts. You even get some free splash damage as a bonus (equal to the artifact's cmc).

This was a change introduced with LRW because it was the first block to feature both +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on a large scale and this change was supposed to make organisation and logistics easier.

Not sure what the rules would say about this interaction, but wouldnt Maskwood Nexus and Grumgully not work together at all? Maskwood gives all creatures every creature type, including the human creature type. That would mean that Grumgully's effect wouldnt trigger. Again, not sure if this is how it would work, someone more knowledgable than me please confirm haha

The only issue I have with this Deck: Combining Tokens with Counters. Anyone who has ever dealt with that combination knows that it is stupid hard to manage the board state. Otherwise, great Deck.

It's more expensive than difficult - "simply" buy +1/+1 dice and printed token cards. :'D

@@kevinwestermann1001 You would have to buy multiple Dice, one color for the +1/+1 Counters and one color for how many there are. And don't get them mixed up.
