Appreciate your series. Rather than just you stomping plebs, and making complex moves. You play with a consistency and pattern that allows us to learn the patterns of chess and improve. Thanks for the best beginner series out there on KZbin

Timestamps from me and @bencornelius1620 (2:07:36) RECAP. (0:45) - Game 1 [White, 1… Nc6 - Nimzowitsch Defense] - (0:56) Take the center with your pawns when they don’t in the opening. - (9:46) Pawn pushes in the middle can restrict the movement of your opponents pieces. (10:16) - Game 2 [Black, 1. d3 - Mieses Opening. Transposing into a weird e4, Vienna Game] - How to handle weird, passive openings. (19:26) - Game 3 [White, Four Knights: Italian] - (20:16) KNIGHTS TO THE CENTER. In a sort of standstill, what can you do to make the position better for yourself? - (28:22) ANALYSIS (of Attacking) (29:58) - Game 4 [Black, Jobava-Rapport London System] - (34:08) Where to place rooks in d4, d5 structures. - (36:45) A mistake in defending kingsides. Continue watching the analysis. - (37:29) ANALYSIS --- (37:30) REMEMBER: Play a6 when you spot the Knight on a3 in a Jobava-Rapport London structure. --- (38:07) INSIGHT: How to handle casting when your King's safety is unclear. (41:45) - Game 5 [White, Petrov’s Defense, Three Knights Game] - (44:09) Doubling Kingside Pawns with a Bishop and Knight pin tactic. And what they can do to stop it. (50:04) - Game 6 [Black, Accelerated London System] - (59:50) INSIGHT: What are good premoves? And what should you do low on time? + (1:00:53) *THEORY* for White against the London System. - 3…c5 (1:14:11) - Game 7 [Black, Ruy Lopez: Morphy Defense, Exchange Variation] (1:18:06) - Game 8 [Black, Ponziani: Jaenish Counterattack] (1:29:20) - Game 9 [White, French Defense: Tarrasch Variation] + (1:36:31) *THEORY* for White against the French Defense (1…e6 2…d5)\ - 3…Nd2 = Tarrasch Variation (1:50:11) - Game 10 [Black, Ruy Lopez: Morphy Defense] - (1:52:33) *NOTICE* --- That with Black, you don't push your pawn to d5 as you would if you were White, and Black (your opponent) didn't have a Knight or BIshop attacking that square. --- That Aman captures the Knight out of necessity rather than moving the Bishop back even though it helps your opponent's Pawn Structure. - (1:59:24) ENDGAME: Utilizing your resources by activating them under time pressure. (2:01:27) - Game 11 [White, Four Knights: Italian] - Features another example of the knight and bishop tactic to double the opponents kingside pawns.

I was following this series but decided to take an excursion with the KID against 1. d4, because I had a few unpleasant experiences trying to play "habits" moves. But the KID is not easy either, and often I end up way behind in development and trying to figure out which pawn break to make. I think it's time to go back to 1. ...d5 and learn these London ideas instead. My learning approach is to record the lines and ideas in studies on Lichess. Thanks to those annotating the openings with timestamps in the comments, that's helpful.

I underestimated the effect of this series as a learning tool, playing natural-looking moves that end up losing the game is really effective: you don't just take Aman's word for it, really think about the moves because he might be pursuing a loss on purpose to show what went wrong. Really well done

that tactic at 14:10 was insanely hard to see. you went in for a pin and then it turned into a pin on both of your bishops and then you were forced to lose both by a trap.

Regarding the tactic at 1:32:42, I'd take with the knight all day. If ... Qxf6, white responds with Qxg4 and is up a solid piece with the bishop pair. If ... gxf6 and Qxg4 is followed by fxg5 as Aman alluded to, doesn't white have a forced mate in two after Qf5? (For what it's worth, Stockfish also takes with the knight.) Excellent series! My only gripe is that it's sometimes hard to tell whether Aman promotes certain moves solely for the target audience of each video. (In this case, is bishop takes *actually* the best move or simply the best move for an 1100 because they're unlikely to calculate Qf5? I guess Aman could have missed the forced mate himself, but I highly doubt it.) Either way, tremendous work; I look forward to reaching the higher rated videos!

21:18 this video series is really interesting and fun. But no way taking with the pawn is a good move. Clearly it's a weakening move. I understand the author is trying to demonstrate something, but a proper follow up is clearly by taking with the Knight. One could get away with this at low levels, but it won't be long before one realizes this is not the way to do it.

I love the series but I would like to see how a real 400 progresses following the rules. Some people in chat said your opponents were intimidated by you being a GM. I also wonder if you subconsciously play better moves than a lower rated player would find. I still love the series and it has given me a structure to my chess.
