we get boring lectures about openings from 100 years ago to explain why we like this new variation. we get 10 minute videos on a opening and pretend you know how to play it. BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT! this s amazing it shows how building good habits and slowly working in more as you go along is a brilliant and easier for me to digest than anything else so THANK YOU SO MUCH .

I can't believe the quality of your content, I was stuck for 3 months at 1375-1420 (it's a big range I know but I didn't always play with full concentration so I lost rating due to stupid stupid blunders I wouldn't usually do). As I started to implement your advice I made more solid moves and the tactics training really paid off as I went from 1420 to 1550 in a week. Thank you so much for your videos, love you guys :)

TIMESTAMPS General notes: • If your bishop gets attacked, don’t blindly retrieve it (like on the other levels). See if there’s a better diagonal 45:48 • Example of a game where proves that playing g4 for no reason is bad 58:56 If you ever have to play g4, play Kg2 afterwards • When you’re up material, play as solid as possible (don’t take free pawns that open lines) Theory: Rook endgame: 14:52 -> If you can cut his king off with your rook, do it -> Chain your pawns Backwards pawn: 42:40 -> don’t necessarily immediately attack it -> control the square in front of it (eg, by placing a knight) -> add pressure • Identify weak squares and add as much pressure there as possible 54:45 • Perfecting Ruy Lopez theory as black: 1:15:18 ***add to lichess study!*** • Opposite-colored bishop endgame theory: 2:05:07 • How to play defensively: 2:07:36 • Nimzo-indian model game: 3:10:00 Quizzes: 10:42 (tactics) 36:06 rook quiz (London) 36:48 - how can you explore his backwards pawn? 54:50 - where’s the KO for the opponent? 1:41:40 - important move for taking advantage of the weak squares

@KironKabir
@KironKabir 2 жыл бұрын
where does your anxiety come from? are you afraid to lose games? it’s good to lose, you will end up becoming a better player that way. either win or learn, there is no failure
@gromov-
@gromov- 2 жыл бұрын
@@KironKabir It all boils down to loss avoidance but these days the reasons are a bit different from when I was younger. When I get competitive about a difficult game I kinda get pre-tired about the grind. Losing itself is fine, it's part of the grind, but when on this mindset, I hate sort of "preventable losses" which then impose a minimum practice/study requirement not to feel like I'm wasting my time. So I end up avoiding the game during the week when I'm tired after work etc so I play less and less. This is especially true when games are mechanically demanding like RTS. What the Habits series kind of 'reset' for me mentally is that the high-percentage moves are solid enough to fall back on that I never feel like I get completely obliterated with no chance. So, I don't feel the pressure to be as prepared just to play the game and get to enojoy it more.

Excellent video, really enjoying this series. I particularly like when you go in deep about a specific topic, like when you explained that segment on backwards pawns in game 2 or rook endgames in game 1, really instructive. One minor request though - I'd love to see you manage the time situation a bit better. I find it a tad frustrating when you're playing a great game only to just lose on time; I'd love to see how you go on and end up securing the win or even keep battling it out in games where you're behind, like the 3rd game where you pushed the G7 pawn to attack the bishop. I know the guy was probably going to go on and win but I think it'd still be really instructive to see a bit more of how you defend. A lot of my games I'll end up struggling to finish an opponent off when I'm ahead on position but not necessarily in material (so can't just rely on trades), or I'll have to battle back from a piece behind, and I'd think it'd be useful to see how you do it at this level without losing on time. Overall though, great video and really pleased you've brought this series back, I find it incredibly instructive and some of the best educational content on KZbin for this sort of intermediate level. Thanks a lot

1:51:42 we are doing something that breaks previous habits in going with the Ruy Lopez and leaving a pawn hanging here. The reason being that if the opponent takes this loose pawn we go into the Ruy Lopez Open Variation (which never happens during this series sadly) but which tries to take advantage of the centre with d4.

WOW, this is fantastic and so much better than on Twitch where there's that rubbish musical sound track, which just destroys the whole show. Okay my opinion not yours I guess. Also hope not too many games lost on Time, due to the chatter. May have been cleverer to add commentary after game played, with pauses to match, which allow for prolonged thanks re subs on the Twitch a/c ? Earnings over interest.

Love this series, the only downside is all the twitch stuff going on that constantly interrupts the games / lesson

It's really good, but watching you talk your way to time trouble isn't ideal. Maybe a little longer game?

First time i got to this speedrun i was asking myself why is he losing and drawing so many games. I realized now they just wanna prolong the speedrun, more content.

if you had actually watched any of the videos, you would know that this is not a speedrun...

But it isn't a speed run, it is a series about developing habits and becoming a better chess player. A speed run doesn't teach much, except how quickly a GM can beat up lower rated players.
