Hey buddy, sorry you're under the weather. At least it's almost over and you can step away and take a breath. Like you said, hat's off to your wife. Being the translator is one thing, but putting on the big-boy pants is another 😆. Down the road you can address some of the smaller issues once things have settled down. I'm happy for you though, it's really nice. Sorry about your birthday as well. Definitely take a short trip to relax after all the stress.

Pierre said there would be a swimming pool in front, once. I wonder about the garage being so far from the house. The house we bought for temporary lodging while nice we have to park in a neighborhood parking lot 20- 50 meters from our house. We are addressing that on the house we are remodeling.

I feel your pain also, me and my wife are here in ormoc now dealing with problems with our house also. Now we did have pretty good quality work but our issue is water and plumbing. I have been at wilcons everyday since we got here fixing probems that arent familiar to people in the filipines. And gotta love the stomach bugs here. Its the water, that water you shower in and brush your teeth also.. and dont eat the meat there unless you killed it, butchered it and stored it yourself. I paid the price last time i was here and im trying to avoid the same nightmare this time. Its not like the states, they dont follow expiration dates and safety rules for meat. So thatt food you see could have sat out for just a few hours and you would never know.

Hi Pierre, Happy Birthday Brother, and a happy housewarming party. The door frame looks terrible, maybe they can redo it for you. That is an eyesore to say the least. Maybe you should make a list of your major concerns about the house and give it to the builder. Hopefully he can fix these issues for you. Best of luck Pam and Pierre.

Pierre, well done for getting so far, almost there. I'm 6 years here retired for the last 3.5 years in Makati and know what your frustrations must be. You hold it in day after day after obvious mistake after mistake and one day you just snap and have your say. In the west once you've vented its forgotten about but Philippinos just don't get it bless them. I've had over 4 years 15 leaks under my sink unit from drains and water pipes, it's become a running joke between me and the guy that manages the maintenance but it's frustrating, but typical Pierre. Get that upstair balcony area finished and go sit out and look at that magnificent scenery you have with a G & T or beer each evening and nothing can spoil that moment. 😀😃😄😁👍🏼 enjoy your new home with your family and the chickens 😉

40PSI isn't bad, considering I know people in Daet who don't have water and I know people in Manila who have 3 blue drums that they collect water in whenever it's available. Is your piping fused poly pipe? That's what we are using in our remodel. I'm going to miss much of our remodel because I have to return to the US on business. I hope your oven works out for you. I have yet to see a gas oven in the Philippines that can actually regulate heat so I buy a separate electric oven and an Induction cooktop. That's a shame about the sink. I should remind my wife that the sinks need cardboard taped over them. On the bright side, I'm going to miss the two week long fiesta which normally makes me want to leave town anyway.

My filipina wife's family is all about being mediocre. They build something without pride. Buy them something new like a fridge and in a year its junk. Its just the mindset in the provinces. I'm not saying they're not nice they just don't have pride. But if there's a party you can bet they will give it 100%.

Hey brother, gotta ask, did you just get tired of the process prior to not giving a shit about the quality of work. On my build, I set the bar in the first week. I got pissed, tired, and frustrated, but I ensured the contractor that if his crew he employed did shitty work, he wasn't getting paid. For the end result, I went through 3 contractors until I got one that took pride in his work. I think I heard you say most of the workers were family, I did that same crap, ....it lasted about a month, and I fired 4 of them. From that point on, the others picked up the pace. The one thing I did not do was hire family as skilled labor. The bottom line was that it was my money, and I wanted what I wanted. I love the concept of your house, especially the VIP upstairs. The one thing that really puzzles me is why so far in the country, I know it's probably land cost, privacy and doing what the fuck you want. But damn, one hell of a drive.....I envy you, you're living the life......don't let that crap get to you.....
@pierreandpamparfaitechanne5088 Жыл бұрын
Every build is different, and no two people are the same. I couldn’t go through 3 contractors here! There’s only 1 up here! Lol The majority of it is done now so I’ll burn those bridges behind me. The reason we are so remote is because this is where my wife’s family lives. I like it up here. I’m starting a Gamefowl farm on this property also. Perfect location! Thanks for your comment 🇵🇭✌️😎

Simple headaches of the Philippines number one. Don't leave your slippers in the doorway. When people come out of the doorway trip, break your ankles. Number two, don't throw trash down on the ground, put it in the Trash bag. Number three, don't let chickens run around. Nobody wants chicken shit on the bottom of their foot. A number 4 Serenity now Serenity now.😂😂😂

Common sense is not common. When you don't live with new stuff, I think the people don't value it the same. I don't think it's a Filipino thing, I think it's a have / have not thing. It's about functionality rather than aesthetics. It's the only rational I can think of. Just remember it's a balance between cheap labor and knowing really what to do. Labor will tell you they can do almost anything, skilled or not. You need a strong local leader who is willing to call out the BS. I honestly think being on the job, keeping a close eye on things is needed. It's can be exhausting.

You keep saying "This is what u have to deal with here-this is how it is in the Philippines- You guys don't know, you aren't here" Well you're right-I'm not there and the only experience with the quality of work and workers there are the dozens of other you tube videos of couples building houses there in both in city and in the provinces, and none of them have these issues you are tolerating with the workers. Not one. You are going to say-"oh they don't put that part in their vids". Maybe, maybe not. But the final product,-the fit and finish on each of their houses IS in the videos and man- the stuff they are doing to your house is criminal bro. There def are workers there that take pride in their work, but these guys should stick to building chicken coops. Just sayin'

I am building in Bohol and it isn’t easy there either as it is a small island. Really, it gets much harder if you are not in a major city. As remote as you are I can imagine it is much harder. People that haven’t been through it have no idea. Nothing is ever in stock. Everything takes twice as long as they say etc. you just keep pushing and eventually it starts to look like a house. Good luck.
@albeenog2432 Жыл бұрын
All totally understood- i know it isn't gonna be a quick cake walk for sure, - but my main point is the lack of quality, and more importantly caring -from the labor. Scratched sink, stained ottoman, terrible woodwork, not even a drop cloth while painting, etc, etc,- it goes on and on thru out the series - so many examples. Those guys just did not care at all - plain and simple. The good thing is Pierre and Pam seem to have a good sound structure, and the cosmetic things that look terrible right now can one by one be corrected and improved through the years as they live there. Lesson learned! @@Landmantx
