Great comparison video. After driving by your place a few weeks ago when we were there, we saw firsthand how well you've put things together. You've really done a fantastic job, everything looks top notch and quality. I can only imagine what that would cost in California, or Vancouver, where we're from. A teardown house in Vancouver can go for $7M..not kidding!

Thank you! I agree, the cost difference is large.

Another great video. Two phrases were going through my head over and over throughout the whole thing. "Thank God I no longer live in California" and "Thank God I built a home in Mexico."

Good information. Never been in Loreto during Christmas time🎄, would like to see the decoration some year. 🐡🌴

In Mexico, you're supposed to begin by doing a core test with an auger, to determine the required depth of foundations. You failed to mention the cost and permits for electrical and water supplies. I didn't find much real information in this video. Now here is the information: the building cost per square metre is approx. MXN$16,500. In my area (northern Mexico). That is what the builders quote.

We are in sand so no drilling for the foundation. Here they dig a pad out about 3 foot deep and about a meter wider than the building perimeter. Then they fill and compact road base four feet thick so you have a pad a foot above the ground. Then you cut and pour a standard monolithic slab foundation in the pad that you just built. All this is included in the build price from our contractor. No permits for electrical or water. Electric connection is free, residential water and sewer connection fee is 4000 pesos, but that was included in our build cost because the builder paid it. Out build costs work out to 24,700mxn per m2 but that varies dramatically. Builders build everything from basic Mexican style houses to 24,000 sqft 16 million dollar USD mansions with imported marble columns from Italy here. Our Villas have solid mahogany cabinets, quartz and quartzite countertops, solid parota custom made doors, 150amp electric service, all plumbing and electric done to international codes, smart switches, high end US plumbing fixtures, and many other things that increase the price. We had quotes from $63k USD to $130k USD. I have videos detailing the entire build process every step of the way on our channel

Holy crap . Ca. is sad silly and sounds like a true rip off. Even here in Nova Scotia they pay us if we produce more solar than we use. However there are rumours we may end up paying to produce more. I hope not. Good numbers crunching. Thanks H & D for your hard work. P n D

As soon as they passed the laws requiring net zero construction (forced solar installation) they stopped paying for excess generation. They don't need the incentive anymore. Now they can force you to put in more solar than you can use and then take the excess and then sell it back at the highest price in the US. Some sdge plans charge $1 per kWh!
