Building Jeff Thompson's Hi Rail Scale O Gauge Model Railroad ! Part One of a new series!

Watch the progress of this layout build in my new ongoing series "Building A Hi Rail Scale O Gauge Layout for Jeff Thompson. A growing trend in our hobby is called Hi Rail Scale modeling. It utilizes 3 rail Hi rail track usually from Atlas or Gargrave's that has a more prototypical appearance than traditional 3 rail track and uses full size O scale locomotives and rolling stock set up to run on the 3 rail track. Sunset, Third Rail, Lionel Legacy and MTH Premier. My client Jeff Thompson hired me to supervise and help with scenery ,structures, and super detailing of the railroad. Others are on the team as well. Howard Zane as well as other artisans also have built structures which will be talked about on future episodes so come along for the ride. WARNING ANY negative comments regarding Hi Rail or Hi Rail scale not being scale will be deleted. Many 2 rail O scale modelers such as myself have many pieces of Hi Rail Scale equipment that has been built or modified to run on 2 rail O scale track so we are all in this together. The huge bridges being the lift gate to get into the layout is awesome. The way he made it to open by pushing a button using electricity and car door openers is amazing.

I believe HiRail has always been promoted as scale running on 3 rails, I used to be a strict 2 rail guy myself, but when everything you want is really only available, and I'm saying "easily available", such as at train shows and the like, you either learn to live with the third rail running down the middle of the track, or you figure out how to switch everything to 2 rail yourself, either way works, I now have a mixture of both 2 and 3 rail stuff, while the bulk of my locomotive fleet is 3 rail, I run my 2 rail rolling stock with the 3 rail and everything works just fine! Someday I'll post a video how well the two actually does work well together!

I totally agree and it is a HUGE segment of the hobby that has been overlooked for too long. It will not be overlooked on my channel .

Thanks for the video. Is there a problem with the sharpness of the focus? The last two videos seemed to be slightly out of focus.

Videos are nice to watch, but your volume seems to be about 1/2 of every other video I watch on KZbin.
