The Eco gets so much hate in the truck world but I’ve been owning one for 2 years and I have no regrets about it. I would never add an aftermarket exhaust on mine that’s just personal preference, but at the end of the day that’s where all the hate mainly comes from cuz it’s a V6 and it doesn’t sound like a V8, I got over it pretty quick since it’s one capable engine and for the ones that make fun of it all I can say is: Drive one

I’m regretting buying my 13 FX4 with the 3.5.. has nothing to do with pecker size and everything to do with reliability. Go watch Scotty Kimers “do not buy f150 with this engine” video. Ticking timeboms. Way to much computer driven crap that fail. This is an amazing looking Raptor though.
@Smurph34-345 жыл бұрын
That tuned torque curve is pretty interesting. They obviously give you a lot more low end grunt, but at 5500 rpm there's a huge dip of like 100lbft and then it jumps back up around 6000rpm. Have you noticed a lack of torque or the truck pulling hard during a WOP then falling on its face, then pulling again? I imagine a 100lbft dip like that is pretty noticeable.

He completely turned the plant into one of the best continental plants in the US. So he gets visitors from Ford, from Germany, and from all over the place. Last summer the person that is in control of the making of the raptor actually came to the plant. $6,000.00 brake kit for front/rear that you have installed on your rig. Holy crap. At least that is the price on Alcon's website. More power to you. I have a 17 Raptor myself and I personally think they stop fine. However, it would be nice if you could possibly mention in a upcoming video of some more affordable options for those that would want a little more bite in the braking w/o the massive price tag. Fluid upgrade, pad or rotor, etc. Also, it would be awesome to do a video based on improving the short falls of the Raptor. Maybe including a big price tag item or a budget item whatever issues you decided to address. I have had my Raptor since June '17, put 13,000 miles on her with zero mechanical or electrical issues.
@americantrucks6 жыл бұрын
Yeah... the Alcons cost more than a lot of used cars, there is no sugar coating that lol. However the stopping power is unlike anything I've felt before, especially considering its a 6000lb truck. But I hear you on a less expensive upgrade- a more aggressive pad would certainly be a start- maybe a set of rotors, etc. Either way, thanks for watching and glad to hear you are enjoying your truck as well! Any plans with it? -Justin

AmericanTrucks Ford I have installed an Rough Country 6 pod led kit in the factory bumper, installed a UPR oil catch can, bed cover, bed divider and bed rug to prevent items from rolling around. I switched my pads and rotors on front of my '13 f150 and noticed an improvement. Try EBC rotors (slotted if you have the cash, I have plain smooth) and some reputable pads (so many options-Hawk, Brembo, EBC, I have Duralast Max) man, you'll probably get more consistent feel and slightly more stopping power. I did and it was on a budget.

A lot of people don't understand that a big brake kit will not actually improve your stopping distance significantly. If the stock brake system is capable of locking up the wheels...then it means the grip between the tires and the road are the limitation. Big brake kits help with heat reduction for sustained braking or repeated braking, but not a shorter stopping distance. Another way to think about it: if you're driving on ice, it doesn't matter how big your brakes are you're not going to be stopping quickly.
@troyhauch27866 жыл бұрын

I'm 20 planning on getting a gen 2 raptor when I'm 25 and I'm glad I got to see all my upgrades in one truck because damn that's nice. Gonna keep it stock for a while, but first upgrades will definitely be the cooler and front bumper upgrades, and then exhaust bc I know for sure there are a couple exhaust kits that make the v6 sound much better. Cold air intake will def come along with those upgrades and I will probably wait until the stock tires need to be replaced and then I'll upgrade tires and wheels. Also will upgrade stock brakes after they're done. Only thing I don't plan on upgrading is the suspension, I don't plan on offroading it much because I want to keep it around for 250k miles or so. Cool vid

Kyle T I agree. There is no way any break kit would allow a Ford Raptor to stop from 60 in 90 feet.
@S_F_R_6 жыл бұрын
Well if you use slick tires when testing the stoping power it will be insane. But who runs slick tires on a truck ? The reason there is no need for race brake on trucks is because of the tire grip limitation. Better brake can help reach that tire limit before slipping but at a certain point the problem will be the tire and not the brake.
@goitoutdoors6 жыл бұрын
can you test that with the stock wheels too? I bet that will be a factor. If they really stop that fast I'll be setting cash aside for my next truck to have them. Thanks Justin.

The truck now sits higher in the front than the rear, and is very close to looking like a squatted truck. (Great Oden's raven! I hate squatted trucks.) I would have to add a 1-1.5 inch block in the rear if this was my truck, but it's not, so do what makes you happy. Overall, this is a great rig and I like the setup. If you want it to sound better just turn up the speakers. That's the only place decent sound comes from
