Outstanding wood working but just not sure I get the design tho. Lower rack or middle seems to be lined up with upper slots. So not a double rack. And the middle rack will interfere with scopes prolly and push them off the top rack. It has a super wide foot print great for roller stability and I like the slanted base floor but again I’m not a designer but maybe I’m just not seeing it without the rifles installed is all. Quality work tho anyone would be lucky to have. Thank you for sharing your work and idea for us all, very helpful and inspiring.

great job, basicly you always make an awesome work! I wonder why you didn't make all of those hooks on x-carve?
@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
They were a bit too long to be cut on the X-carve, and it would have taken around 4-5 hours to cut the 8 parts. Doing it with the jig took 1 hour, including the time needed to make the jig.

Salut.

Any plans for a finishing room? Was a bit surprised you didn't incorporate one into the new shop.
@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
I have one but so far I use it as a storage room. I still need to close it off completely to contain the dust and fumes, as long as that isn't done there is no point in using it, especially since I have more working space in the assembly room. In this case it would have been handy because the varnish takes 2 days to dry and emits toxic fumes. But in general I stopped using synthetic finishes, I usually work with oils and waxes now.
@granander7 жыл бұрын
I thought you where planning on having a finishing room in the new shop? Is it just not finished yet?
@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
For now it's more of a storage area, first I need to build a proper stair and stairway so I can close off the finishing room. The thing is that I have more open space in the assembly room, so I do my finishing there. As long as the finishing room can't be closed hermetically, fumes will go everywhere anyway, so there is no point currently in doing it there.

I know nothing of this, so forgive my ignorance, but why do you make a template vs. having the CNC cut the finished part directly?
@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
Because my x-carve CNC is too slow for that and this was just beyond it's size capacity, so I usually prefer to use it for jigs. My big router cut these in 2-3 passes, the CNC needs 18 passes.
@mauromusso99157 жыл бұрын
Amazing!
@Dima_k.017 жыл бұрын
Hello Timothy, why don't you cut the Plywood on the X-Carve?
@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
Hello Dima, because it was slightly too long for the X-carve, but also because it would have taken at least 4 hours as the X-carve works best when cutting in passes of 1-2mm. This was just faster.

@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
We live upstairs, I built a small apartment there when I made the workshop.
@abbykirby17107 жыл бұрын
Timothy Wilmots I heard you mention apartment in one of the shop build videos. You've got a pretty good size shop, how many bedrooms did you manage to fit up stairs?
@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
It's only the size of the assembly room, it's basically one room. Only the bathroom is closed off. It's a temporary home, there is a house on our property but I need to demolish it and rebuild it. The next project will be a new stair and stairway to the apartment so you'll get a good glimpse.
@abbykirby17107 жыл бұрын
Timothy Wilmots would you mind if I may ask roughly what you've got just in machines and hand tools? My grandfather was a woodworker and I never saw this money tools. If I were to guess I would say about 20k in machines and hand tools!

Since I am sure you are not making these for yourself ...What is the approximate cost if purchased fom you?
@TimothyWilmots7 жыл бұрын
A little over €200 each, but only because there are 4. I couldn't make just one for that sum. When I film a project it easily doubles production time, so in this case I made a bad profit any way.
