Building Moebius Models 1/128 Spindrift Preview

In the plot, the Spindrift was flying between Los Angeles - London when it encountered a mysterious "space warp" that propelled the ship to the Giants planet. The year this takes place is .............1982!!!. The show premiered in 1968.( 1982 at the time was still in the future. I once saw a " Voyage to the bottom of the sea" episode that took place in ......1979 !!. Again the future.)

Yeah we didn't have anything that looked like that in 1982 that's for sure. I love this show and bought the DVD set that came in the little carrying box a number of years ago.

Nice job - you've certainly whetted my appetite to see the kit completed (especially with the diorama, featuring a giant plant). Very interesting to see the contrast between the earlier, rather crude Aurora and the superior version by Moebius (i.e. the latter was more faithful to the TV series)

Thanks Stephan. Only bad part of the model are the decals. Workn hard to resolve some issues. Will provide an update in part 2

Looks like it will be a fun project. My Dad built the original Aurora kit when I was a kid. I still have it somewhere!

Super subject, I do have the same model and as always this is going to be a fun follow along build, I enjoy these small scale because of limited space and I can't see the sense in building a model just to put it in a box, this is perfect scale and hope to see more , going to enjoy building this along with you

In 1969 when I was 9 yrs old.I had.that.Land of the Giants lunch box Now it's probably worth. Mass bucks.

Are Moebius kits worth getting? Build wise?

I would recommend them yes. My experience with Moebius has been very positive. Their kits are good quality, easy to work with and accurate. Customer service has been great too.

you can make a scaled dog by using a frayed end of rope and dying it the color of the sheep/terrier bread(I guess) to about 1/16th " I am not being silly I'm serious. you can. the kit is 5"x3"
