Thanks so much...and yeah very proud for sure. Happy to note both my kids have done well which is so great. I couldn't be happier. Thanks for the compliments and yes I'm very happy with the Dune painting too. We'll see how it goes. I think the dioramas are going to be something different for people to see. I dont think I've ever seen dios, busts or models for that matter in the show.

Very nice comments about Boyd and his love for modeling and the community which he helped form. Trek Works was an amazing channel. From which I learned many many techniques. His friendly nature shone through, he was a complete natural. As you said he would want us all to push on and do our best work and above all have fun while doing it! Halloween will definitely be a time I remember his 'in character' special show. 😂 Great work on the art for SDCC. Have fun!😊

I was devastated when I heard about Boyd. I literally just went to see him back in April. I was one of his fans who purchased one of his models for sale to help support his treatments(I bought his Ultimate Space Battleship Yamato....I treasure it). I drove through 6 states to his house to pick it up and to meet one of my internet idols of modeling. He was so nice, too. Easily the coolest old nerd I've ever met. He showed me his work space and his model room and we talked for over 6 hours about all things science fiction, modeling and our similar experiences growing up. He was spry and enthusiastic...and for lack of a better word...ALIVE! He really looked like he was recovering and getting stronger. I lost my Father to colon cancer and watched it diminish him cruelly for 8 years(one of the reasons I really wanted to help Boyd out), so I can tell the difference between dying of cancer and recovering from it. He looked really good, so the news of his passing is just so...shocking and disheartening. I feel really lucky to have had the brief moment in time spent with him. I'll never forget him. He was the first internet modeler I discovered and subscribed to. I put him in the top tier of KZbin modelers along with Lou Dalmaso, Models by Chris and you, Interstellar Modeler. RIP Boyd Crompton I did enjoy your video and think your dioramas, busts and paintings are exceptional. I hope you do well at the art show, my friend. Peace.

@@arnthorsnaer i just find it cumbersome to work with and just didn’t enjoy it. Also found it difficult to to snip the ends completely leaving small stubs behind. Are those replacement springs stainless steel or alloy?
@InterstellarModeler15 күн бұрын
Its been 8yrs since this build so i dont exactly recall. If you’re interested in putting springs in, i would recommend inquiring at Space 1999 Props and Ships on Facebook. Lots of modelers there who would have a better recommendation. These particular springs were too stiff. Thanks for watching
@beherid511115 күн бұрын
@@InterstellarModeler Thanks for the quick reply. I'm thinking the original ones are stainless steel and that's why they're rigid and other alloy ones would probably be not so rigid, but I'll check the props and see, thanks!

Glad you took the time to share your paintings and talk about your method! Appreciate the really nice summary of your progress & process. I get your comment about distraction and why this is a standalone episode at the moment. Previously, I've found drawing & painting to be quite subconscious mind-to-brush event. So, maybe practicing a kind of mindfulness during the COVID time? Hopefully, your Spain trip will inspire some future matte paintings (a now some what lost art). Would love to see another future project that mashes up these acquired skills!
