WELL DONE! Loving this series, now my hubby and I have a bit of a project to get on with! So thankful that you made this so we can make one too. It's a bit expensive to buy the Carolina Coop from Australia so we are SO grateful for your videos. Thank you Xx

This is wonderful work! I am so happy to have found a SUBSTANTIALLY built chicken house . This will stand up to our horrible weather. I have never seen the inside of a coop painted. Is there a reason for this? It seems that it would not take much extra time and would make cleaning easier.

Hi. I just found your channel because of these coop videos. I have really enjoyed them and you explain somethings, like how to make the egg hutch that I couldn't figure out watching Carolina Coop videos. I'm building a small coop right now out of old wood I have. It's a lot of work clean it to use but that's the price of "free" wood. I plan to make one about the size of what you have here and I think your videos will help me a lot. I'm a bit nervous. I've never done something like this and only have basic wood working tools. I just got a pocket hole jig and clamp. So I need to practice on some scraps and learn to use it. My chicks are too big and I'm really behind schedule so here's hoping I can finish soon. I like the bright colors you chose. Reminds me of my highschool colors. We had dark blue and silver.

Hi, I watched all videos, so glad you posted on your website a materials list, I've got it! One thing I missed, length and quantity of the roofing material -- I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel, I'll go with your pitch -- and I'm doing the same overall size 8x18. Awesome Job! Thank you so much!!

Cool, glad it was all helpful. I don't remember how many roofing panels I used. I know I got them at Lowes and they were plastic, normal width, and 6 foot long. I had to trim a bit off. I think if you know your dimensions and the width of the roofing sheets you plan on buying just allow for a couple inches overlap on each side and you should be able to get pretty close to how many you need. Sorry I don't remember the specific number I ordered.

Love this, great ideas for the nesting box. We are seriously considering chickens. Interested in what you will feed them and I’ll check out part 4 for the watering system. ✅

Chickens can almost feed themselves in the summer free ranging. They also survive well on hard red wheat. Their egg production drops a bit but they still produce and do fine. If you have a local granary near you you can often get uncleaned wheat much cheaper. Just be sure it's not seed grain that they sprayed with pesticides.

I have followed your video, and I’m at the point of the trusses being up. I have not put any horizontal strips up yet. My question is, was your structure stable in the middle at this point? Or will the roof horizontal pieces and panels tighten everything up. corners are super strong, so that’s not an issue. It’s very level as well.

Wow that’s so nice, can you tell us roughly what the cost was for all the material?

Glad you liked it! To answer your question here is an article I wrote detailing all the materials used and the process of building it. emergencyprepguy.com/building-a-chicken-coop-carolina-coops-style/. The prices I paid will be more than what you would most likely pay now because I built this during that lumber price spike when it was at its most expensive.
