Woodworker here! First off, great job and I really like the center leg idea! I only have one minor tip! When using the painters tape on the drill bit, leave it "flagged" out, so when you get the depth you need, it acts as a sort of brush, brushing away the drill bit dust. So when you don't see any dust, you are at the correct depth. Well done man!

I wanted the strength of solid wood and to be able to cut to size and drill holes in it to mount power strips, cable mgmt etc. If you get an already white desktop, its usually plywood with white laminate or honeycomb cardboard in Ikea Linnmon. Doesn't have the strength and cant cut to size, etc

I'm gonna be building my own desk soon. I used to build houses(framing) and also did everything from finish carpentry to flooring(commercial concrete flooring/hardwood/carpet and epoxy coatings) so building the desk will be easy. But I'm checking out everyone's desks so I can get some ideas of how I want mine to be. Yours is pretty much what I was wanting to do, so thanks for the video and some inspiration!

Yeah, dont put the middle support leg on the outside edge. Bring it in until they fit together. I believe the long side comes in about 8 inches and the short side comes in about 7 inches from the outside edges

I have and prefer an all white desk. It looks more modern but I agree with you in this situation. The butcher block table top is much nicer than any painted top. I wouldve at least stained it with White stain so you can still see all the Wood grain and butcher block look. I cringed when he started painting it.
