Shwing! Really surprised to hear about Padalka here. Simon is an extremely talented luthier and I'm lucky to know him and his wife Darya (who was most likely the one who came up with that design). Love watching your viddies and I look forward to seeing how this project turns out. Best of luck with it!!

I did some googling and it looks like there are two hacker spaces in Luxembourg. If they're anything like the ones over here in the US they may have a bandsaw. It may be worth seeing if you can get access to that so that you can use the right tool for the job rather than fucking around with a jigsaw when you don't need to. Worth a thought!

Neck-thru is an entirely different league (also the blank wouldn't be long enough). Also I just don't enjoy neck-through guitars as much as bolt-ons

@nicolofaettini74585 жыл бұрын
Actually is good to have to cut the neck to make the headstock angle, this because doing so, you can glue the headstock piece and change the veneer direction, so having "crossed" veneers between the neck ones and the headstock ones, it makes the neck a lot more stable and strong, probabily you wouldn't even need to build a volute. (heard a lot about this and actually i have my pro jackson RR24 that is built with this method and it doesn't have a volute and the neck feels really strong).

of course, you do you. But I would advise against staining the fretboard. In my opinion it just starts to look filthy when it starts to wear down... I love your projects, how did you join the tops (make the edges perfectly flat?), thats what would seem the most difficult to me personally

You're definitely inspiring me to do a guitar build as well, finally. I was set on a neck-through design but i'm definitely thinking bolt-on is a much smarter choice, especially as I want to make a baritone so the wood blanks would be pretty ridiculous for a neck through.
@MilianMalivukMusic5 жыл бұрын
I thought too neck-through would be easy for a first build (just one huge blank an some wings right?) but it's definitely MUCH harder to build a good neck-through guitar.
@witeshade5 жыл бұрын
@@MilianMalivukMusic how about set neck? It seems like once you route out a good neck cavity it isn't much more to glue rather than bolt, as long as you check all the angles a dozen times before making it permanent.

I didn't intend to sell these, but if I continue like that, I just have to sell them at some point because I can't keep them all. I've been thinking about selling the first one because I really really spent a lot of money on both projects now and I just need some income.

@MilianMalivukMusic5 жыл бұрын
MrMisterMan You'll definitely not need 50k worth of tools to build a guitar. I've done the first one and this one with basic tools you could even own already. The only thing that is absolutely necessary is a router, but you can get one for like 100 bucks.

"extremely expensive... Like 30€" 😂 this is not even close expensive in my opinion. Good spanners will last a live long. I got mine from my dad and they where already old. But incase you don't need new one look on the used market. I think you are from Germany. Look on Kleinanzeigen or maybe if you send me the size you need I can send you my old one.
@MilianMalivukMusic5 жыл бұрын
Considering what other tools cost and what you can do with them, 30€ for something that is just meant to clamp something (in guitarbuilding I'll just use this to join tops or bodies) is a lot of money if you're a student, especially if you have to get 2 or 3 which is almost 100€ just to clamp your 75€ top together.
