When I used an incubator only one egg hatched, and she really developed a strong bond with me. She was so lonely until the other chicks came, it broke my heart, so I carried her around a lot. She comes running to her name and still prefers human to chicken company.

My peppers from seed ( I had planted) looked like they had all died after the freeze too ( I’m in Georgia) so we’re neighbors. I just went and bought some pepper 🫑 starts on Saturday to replace them. Went out to the garden this evening. And several of them are coming back! I see lots of little leaves and green stems. Give them some time. I think yours may come back too!

Something fun to do with the kids this year..when the watermelons start growing and you have a few on the vine make a few square boxes from plexiglass and place a watermelon in each box and the watermelons will grow in the shape of a square. The kids will think it’s awesome..they have square watermelons in China. It’s like a novelty thing just like the buda shaped pears they have..

Gardening in Chicago, Illinois. Only thing growing in the cold garden: garlic, onions, blueberries, peas. Plants that are waiting for warmer weather: celery, eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Should be starting melons, squash and cucumbers soon. Love your show and teaching the kids how to make a garden and taking care of the animals. Very inspiring! My neighbor has chickens, but our summers get so hot, they would need air conditioning here in Texas. So many people have land in the country and dont have gardens. Im real surprised.. Love the flowers too. I have 6 different sunfowers i hope to grow.
