I am in awe and sincerely envy your complete disregard for order and cleanliness (you repotted a plant indoors on top of a rug! … Inconceivable). I mean it. I feel like my need for a "proper place and proper tools" is holding me back creatively.

8:50 yeah it happens to the best of us... I cut my finger open like a banana skin halfway up my nail with an angle grinder because i was using it with no guard. Dropped the angle grinder as soon as i felt it touch my finger, shattered the disk and scared the shit out of me. Healed just fine, but i learnt my lesson.

oh dear i fear i have found someone who also does messy wood furniture just as i. i have been reusing a massive tarva ikea dresser for 9 years. it's become desks, shelves, workspaces, a dresser, and a few others. i love all of the old screw holes. they tell a story. the layers of splattered paint from my toddler who is now a big girl. it's something special. i reuse everything wood until it is no longer usable lol. i am so happy i've come across this channel. it feels homey, cozy.

I love this. Most of my grandparent's home consists of scrapwood construction, I can remember the 2x4-plywood combo shelving unit that held the countless toys they kept for my cousins, my brother, my friends, and I. I remember finding the scrap pile in the backyard and creating makeshift club houses and seesaws. I remember the vibrant paints that sat on shelves which were covered in spills of lilac and cyan and off-white, matching the colors of their walls in old photos. It tempts me, to do this myself. To create a home that is truly, my home. A home that fits my every need, my every creation, and that can adapt as I do the same.

Man, this video hit me with so much nostalgia. This is exactly how I started building stuff when I was in my 20s. Figuring it out, long 2x4s hanging out of my honda window, making cuts in a parking lot. Now I'm 44 with a dope workshop and I buy shelves rather than building them, but this video made me long for those days.

I really needed this today man. Just finished building a workshop/ studio space at the bottom of my garden and while I'm drowning in wood I couldn't see how I could make the scrapped together look come out the way I wanted but you nailed it

The way you make your place look through building and decorating reminds me so much of the "I Spy" books I used to look through as a kid and I love it! Great work, and I love that you reuse old wood! its great for the environment and adds history and a homey feel to the place. Definitely a good inspiration for how I'm going to decorate my place.

The last minute of this really resonated with me. I consider myself a perfectionist, that has unfortunately had influence on my space and I often find myself missing my family home and the "make do" nature of things. Now, as an adult, I find myself chasing a clean "curated" workspace. Which ironically is probably doing more to get in the way of my creativity, seeing you build your space like you have has really inspired me to reconsider what I value in a work/living space. Also, we have the same small LED panels! Real useful.

This was enjoyable for sure. I do things the same way. I build all my own furniture and keep wood, and other bits for years. If I need something, I figure out how to make it. I’ve been living out of a van I built up the past two years, and will be getting back into a “normal” space soon. This video really motivated me, and helped me realize how much I miss all my little things that I have in storage. Keep up all the rad work.

I think it would be pretty awesome if you made your own custom fan blades to replace what you took off. Maybe like a wooden toroidal ceiling fan? I know you took it down to save space so instead maybe have it drive a long belt to a wall fan?
@EvanMonsma5 ай бұрын
I absolutely love the idea hahaha never thought about running a belt to use the motor elsewhere. if I can find some good wood to serve that purpose I might have to. Thanks for the dono too!
@VibrantlyBrantly5 ай бұрын
@@EvanMonsma just thought it'd be a good video idea. Not to mention a toroidal propeller without a CNC would be very impressive if you can pull it off 🤣 I like the belt idea better and I think it's more practical

Or a mill, or a lathe or something power toolish :D
@VibrantlyBrantly5 ай бұрын
@@alexhernandez67 not ridged or torquey enough. My first idea was to drive a generator that would power a led from across the room but realized soon after that would require some sort of planetary gear box making the idea completely impossible due to the fact sun gears and and planet gear don't appear in nature on their own plus we'd need to find a earth gear. Needles to say I don't think it'd work and I don't think I can fit any more nonsense into a single run on sentence.

Great channel. Being smart with circular saws is key. Hold them tight, they can run too. With a miter/chop saw, Had a similar experience. Was cutting a small piece that slipped off the fence because of the gap behind the blade. Got pulled in and back, And twisted/spun/jammed so fast that it almost ripped my fingernail off. It was that skate deck ply wood that has a curve to it as well. Check out those zero clearance miter saw spoil boards. always be careful or avoid small pieces potentially lift or move. Clamps, scraps and push sticks always help. Saws pull in. Japanese pull saw with a miter jig is quick and low dust. But yeah, awesome Channel. have fun!

looks amazing man, i commented on one of your other videos as you inspired me to go back to DIY builds instead of buying new furniture. I now have a custom painted shelf for my cameras and an under desk cubby hole to keep various gadgets and books. sadly cant put anything on the walls here due to the landlords strict rules but using shelving is a great way around that. hope you're all good mate, keep living life.

For first-time viewers, this was an excellent video. I prefer exact, stark clean, minimal studio spaces with a few retro bits. But your storytelling was so good.
