You should build it in the other room..... the bigger room😂 Sweet! you're off the floor though. Good luck with it. Oh BTW, Those are called sidings. Eric referred to tracks around his turntable as "whisker" tracks. But What you have there are sidings. Just trying to help you out😊

Great job on the table, I'm jealous of those wide curves! For lighting I installed plug in track lighting I bought from home depot, it was really easy to do because it plugs in. It was hampton bay brand. Then I used Philips Hue smart bulbs in the heads so I can use color lighting on the layout.

Ahhhh ….that feeling of not being on the floor anymore. I can relate. Looks great! One suggestion ….. if you’re going to do a backdrop, this is the time to do it. Once scenery is in place, it’ll be a lot more difficult to install it. 👍🏼

@@RaysTrains You are welcome brother, I just happened to think of something for the underside of your train layout, you could wrap the cross boards in pool nudels all the way around just incase little one is under the train layout with you and bumps her head , it will not hurt as you come up throw the cut out in your train layout brother.

Ray, I have a small layout too (8' X 7') and placed the astro-type carpet right on top of my boards and really found it was rather quiet without adding a layer of homasote. You might want to check that out before adding another layer to yours - only a suggestion.

What a great video to watch on my Saturday morning. It was a neat surprise to see the trains setup on the new table. Future video idea: comparison demonstrating before & after sound deadening. Keep up the great work, I like what you've done so far. O-72 or any larger curves are not just for larger engines, any size engine benefits from larger curves as its easier to pull a string of cars through it.

If you had n Guage trains you could have your layout on your coffee table .My late grandfather ran his trains throughout the house at waist height on shelves. That's when my father was about 10, ninety years ago. He had English Hornby 0 Guage trains.

Beautiful table Ray! My complements to your father-in-law, he's a master craftsman no doubt about it! And it was a wise decision to go for 072 curves, better to have more wide-radius than too little, your layout's going to be a lot more versatile as a result. All I could manage on the 4x8 I've got was 031 but it works for me. No advice I can give at this point, you're well on the way!

@@RaysTrains I'm flattered! One last thing I forgot last night, it was getting late and I was running out of gas, those scale-sized cars you like will also look a LOT better on an 072 curve, another reason your decision to go for the same a good one!

Congratulations on your new layout but if you're going to get a larger engines the table is going to have to be shifted to the right side or add another piece of plywood to existing table as it is no bigboy will never make the outside loop

Wow! It surprised me not seeing you in that chair with the tractors and trains on the shelf in the background at the beginning. Your layout already looks near complete, although that's me probably thinking back to my grandparents pre-war layout with a loop of track and a green sheet of plywood...

I seen the comment where someone said you were printing money lol. If you are printing money make sure to print me some too lol. I'm guessing the new Multi Max Gunderson auto racks are in those boxes. They are too new for Conrail so Atlas didn't make those road names. I'm also going to guess one of them is a Canadian Pacific to match that locomotive thats in front of my Conrail box car lol.

Nice work Ray. Why not add a piece of 1x2 pine as an edge trim at the front of the table. That could give you another 3/4 inch lip at the front. A tiny bit more space for when you add the homasote board.
