Good investigative journalism Kenton. It's always important to hear both sides on important issues. It would also be great to access all of the documents/reports/assessments referenced. It would be nice to read an EIA on the dredging aspect specifically. Did the overall ESIA for the project factor in imported fill for the site instead of locally sourced fill from dredging?... Some clarity on this would be ideal.

It was made perfectly clear by the engineer that the government is in no way accountable to the people they were elected to serve with something as basic as making this information public. Information on a project that their tax dollars will pay for...lack of transparency to the point of deliberate withholding of information points in the direction of corruption..

Vincentians need to realize we are living in a modern age, SVG need to be developed, mining of that sand is not the same as digging up the sand on the beach front to build houses, the sand on the beach shore protects the water from getting on the land and eroding it, hurricane don't really affect us because of the geological location of SVG, not because of the sand bank.

Well spoken sir, I came to the conclusion that SVG need a serious purge. Get rid of all the backwards ppl and all the degenerates that making us one of the worst Caribbean island . SVG is one of the most beautiful Caribbean island but some of them ppl we have living there and stuck in their old ways need to get hip. We need to jump on the modern train. I am living abroad and I have been to many Caribbean island and I am ashamed when I see so much of our ppl fighting down everything good that is going on in the country to uplift it.

Development yes, modernisation yes, there obviously will be a substantial surplus of funds due to the alternate sourcing of materials. How do you people accept that it is 1 million, then on further scrutiny it increased but not to anywhere near it would be mathematically logical. Open your eyes people, you pay that money back in taxes. Whether that surplus goes to aeCON or the politicians coffers should be equally troubling to the point where one can be considered embezzlement and the other deceptive business practices. Either way you the population are the victims.

It's refreshing to see this young Vincentian speaking with so much common sense and intelligence. The journalism is excellent also -- all the relevant questions were asked. Well done, Kenton, you obviously had good training. I suspect some Politics were at play here; nevertheless, it's always important that questions are raised when these types of large scale projects are undertaken. The sea may eventually reclaim it's sand from the shoreline, but if the area gained last's fifty years, that wouldn't be so bad. By that time new technology will come along to deal with it. Great discussion!

He was selling himself well up to the point where he made the "Mandated to give Critics information" part. This is a brilliant piece of documentation.

If the engineer is correct, why not use the surplus funds and the same dredge to rebuild the depleted east coast beaches especially where the expensive sea walls are being built?

Quite an interesting exposée. However, since project approval was given based on fill material being sourced outside SVG, shouldn't the funding agencies have INSISTED that the requisite/new studies for local sources be scrutinized before releasing funds. Like CDB lapsin' big time. The argument that information on a public project cannot be divulged to the general public is unprofessional is baseless and implies that the "public" cannot analyze that information . If a grade 2 child can understand and appreciate that project what about the average Vincentian, so that argument should be flushed down the sewer. We need development, but not haphazard development. Look at what happened to the "glorious" ( now infamous) marina project in Union island that has messed up our environment for ever! More difficult questions and issues will surface as time goes on.

Jomo talk about Sonar kills fish, if that was so all the military Naval ships in the world must have killed off all the fish in the world. Modern fishing trawlers use Sonar to locate fish. Jomo knows everything from covid19 to volcano and every other subject he must be the most educated person in svg
