It may be satisfying for you to be there, but it is satisfying for us to follow your story too. I remember watching all your wildly different builds and commenting on how the duck run looked like the inside ribbed body of a whale. And when you were wondering what to name the Chateau de Poulet, and playing catch with Molly as a little girl! What you and your Darlin have accomplished is truly remarkable in such a short time. Watching all your kittens and Fozzy grow up to become outstanding workmates has warmed our hearts, and you have done it all with such great joy and huge smiles. This synopsis was a real treat because of your talent at filming and choosing the best music to showcase it all. Thanks for bringing us along🎉

This video was very good. It would be interesting to see an overhead layout of your farm and what you started with and the order that you added things in. Then what you have intended for the future. Also it you would change anything in a design or position, if you had to do it over. Just a thought. This would be helpful for folks that are considering transitioning to this type of lifestyle. People also want to know what kind of money they would have to save to be able to start. With your experience, delivery style and honesty, I think people would take you suggestions to heart. The dead of winter is a good time for reflection and planning.

Hey! You're not alone in thus concept. We have 2 properties here in Cape Breton. We haven't even determined for sure which one will have our house on it! We camp in a small RV in the summer on the one property, and house sit for 7 months every year for the last 5 winters. The chickens and rabbits are a 5 minute drive away, and get visited at least twice a day. Hubby works away, and the dog and I are slowly working on both properties. The dog is a Shetland Sheepdog. Hubby builds more than I do, but I've planted trees and I'm clearing forest. Someday we will build the house. But not yet! Thanks again for sharing your stories. Your adventures are never boring, and your homestead is very much a homestead.

I agree with your eventual plan of a home. It all takes money, and when the rest is done to your liking, then you works for your house. When house is done, there's more time to just live. Still work, but renting that house is an income. Maybe 1 day, that will be enough to sustain, or selling produce , animals, or byproducts of the animals and garden could . I LOVE your channel! I could no more do what you are doing than I could go to the moon, but I sure do like to watch you doing things around the property, and explaining to your viewers what you are doing. I will be 80 in July, 2024, and I am just learning how to use power tools. As a kid in high school, I ended up in sewing and cooking classes, because back in the early 60s, girls couldn’t sign up for shop class.😒. But in 2019, I bought an older mobile home, and have had to learn to fix, and build things for myself, because I can’t afford to have a handyman. I just bought a battery powered circular saw, and it joins my recip saw, and jigsaw. I just wish I had known I had this love for tools before my dad died. His father was a very good carpenter, and so was my dad. I would have loved to be able to learn from my dad the tricks that make working with wood so much easier. And, for the people who got upset about you showing the process of getting the bird ready to process, where do they think their food comes from? You know, all those chicken wings, and drumsticks, and boneless breasts, etc? I have lived in towns and cities all my life, but had friends who grew much of what they ate, and I have helped process venison my partner shot. I have a funny story. In 1986, my husband and I drove to Alaska. While there, we were invited by a friend who lives there to spend a weekend with him, and some of his Inuit friends, in a cabin on an island just outside of Dillingham. The family consisted of father, mother and their 10 yo son. For our dinner on Saturday night, we were going to have duck that the son had shot. She laughed at me when I turned an interesting shade of green as I watched the mother pluck the bird. This was the first time I ever saw an animal being prepared from start to finish, and I have to admit, I averted my eyes quickly as soon as I saw what you were going to do. At least I didn’t turn green!😁 Please don’t let the detractors upset you . They are far outnumbered by those of us who are living vicariously through your vlog! Hi, from Brownsville, Texas, USA

I just watched one of your videos with a snow punting with conjunctivitis. You can use original ointment Neosporin from the drug department. The bird picked this up from some area bird feeder that was dirty. I have used this on wild birds that have come to my feeders. Just cage the bird for 10 days and treat the bird twice daily. Just put a little on the side of your finder. This worked for me many times. Wash your hands very well. You can get this yourself or give it to other animals. I hope you try this. Take care.❤❤

From the uk here I love watching all you do it’s something I wish I was able to do, maybe not as big as it or as many animals- maybe end up with move over time but start small. Sadly here in the uk the system isn’t set up to help people move forward…. Not at all. It’s built to keep you where the politics politicians want you. It’s not set up to make it that you improve your life sadly. We are trying our best as I have lots of disabilities and they won’t employ me due to them I doesn’t a lot of time at home, 90% So I would love to have the farm chores to be getting on with lol would give me a purpose Anyways I love to come along with you every day. It brings me joy…. That’s just the big stand stuff. So please just film whatever, I like when you build stuff as so unique… but I like to be the fly on the wall. And the garden is amazing. Each year it will give more as you get the soil in better conditions and that helps the plants to give more as im sure you know lol. I don’t know if you have ever thought of worm farming, with compost worms…. The casting they provide are amazing for the garden used either as an air-rated tea you spray on the soil or straight casting mixed in with compost. It’s the best natural fertiliser there is- not that I’m trying to sell it to you, but I have seen a difference in the garden just in the year I’ve had them. Really did make a difference to the produce. If you want any advice I’m happy to help where I can or point you in the direction of other good KZbin channels on worm farming, as some are better then others. Take care chad and your lovely lady xxx keep the video coming x

It’s beautiful to see that you are building a dream! You’re building your happiness You wake up with a vision and idea and you plan and bring it to life and you live your life that’s an awesome thing to see, so many wish they could do and escape and build their lives! Build their happiness It’s a lot of hard word and you said both you and your wife work too so it is a lot but to come home knowing what you can go home to it’s special The old home you have of beautiful I love history and I love old buildings😂I live in my family’s home built in the 1700s so I know what you mean it’s cold😂plus I’m in England too so we rarely see sun lol it’s amazing know what I feel now the cold that is here now is what my ancestors felt😂we love our modern creature comforts so it’s pretty modernised but still it’s a piece of the past that I live in that makes me happy I’d love to do what you’re doing it’s awesome Good luck to you and the homestead and god bless I love your content you’re a very humble and kind man

things were built to last back in the day too. our barns were built using hand hewn tree beams and the structure is so solid it just needs to be parged and a new floor put in, once that's done it'll last another 100 years. Cheers.

You are doing a great job I do have a question about Bubbles is she not able to roam she is so small I would keep her as is too! I enjoy when you film doing chores and let the cats out and then call them in. Do you want cows or goats one day? I think you have to go to the farm everyday? Thank you for your videos I have been catching up and watching them all

Long story with Bubbles. She’s the daughter of Maggie and sister to Mango & Tango. I freaked her out by using a net to get her so I could take her to the vet first vaccines, since then she’s so scared of me, big mistake I made and it’s been like a year trying different methods to make her like me again. If I let her out with the crew it’s highly likely she won’t come back to me so I gotta protect her. I have several videos on it if you go back. I had her in the barn, in our house etc. she is much better now but still sketchy. She’s like the size of a squirrel, very beautiful kitty too. I just keep working on her, she has good day where I can pet her but other days she keeps her distance.

Farming is a daily work and that is why farmers live on the property or workers live on the properties and you basically live on the property only 18 minutes away and homesteaders chose to skip on some aspects of farming like you not raising cattle or farming vegetables and grain or fruit on large scale
