I have something similar called a sling shot. Its a great tool because when you go for a one rep max at alot of tonnage your body kind of goes into shock Sht thats heavy. The bands or slingshot easily let you practive your max and more for entire month before your real PR. I went from 335 to 355 in one training cycle of 16 weeks doing a regular progression but always ending with a sling shot similar to your banded support. It was the biggest jump i ever had. Normally aim for 5 or 10 weight increase. I believe it should only be used on your last heavy set as overuse will nullify its benefit of strict press.
